Ditch the hotdogs.

While its name literally translates to "mixed rice," the Good To-Go Korean Bibimbap Double Serving Entree brings you so much more than just that. Ready to keep you and your adventure partner warm on cold nights at the campsite, this Korean staple's main component is gochujang—a deep red, spicy, and incredibly flavorful sauce made from chilis and fermented miso—that not only tastes great, but also has proven cardiovascular and immunity benefits. Then, medium grain rice, carrots, spinach, and zucchini deliver the energy you'll need to keep on trekking in the backcountry. If you're feeling particularly culinary, fry up an egg to place on top for a meal that'll rival those at your favorite Korean restaurant.

  • Flavorful Korean dish that brings gourmet cooking to the backcountry
  • Ready in minutes, just add boiling water
  • Serves two very hungry campers

Healthier than some, but not tasty

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This was on the poor side of ok. I'm glad that I could read all the ingredients, and that there weren't a ton of preservatives and whatnot, but I felt really let down. I came in with big expectations after other reviews of this company's backpacking meals. They claim on the side of the bag that it's "not a block of salt." Well, it tasted like they had added no salt whatsoever. Other than it being spicy, there was little to no flavor. (Personally, the spice level was fine, as I like spicy food, so that wasn't an issue.) AND, as others have mentioned, the texture was no bueno. Even after letting it sit sealed with the boiling water for 20 minutes, per the instructions, it was super chewy. Still going to give some of their other meal options they sell a try, but will never get the bibimbap again.

Bleeeeckkkk!

I've had authentic bi bim bap many times before, so I knew what the dish should taste like. In camp meals, there's sometimes a texture issue, or a person's personal preference as to spice. This missed the mark, and horribly, for us. We wanted to like this, especially because we love bi bim bap. The rice never actually got fully hydrated, (despite fully following cooking directions), and even after additional water and cook time did not get better. Way too much heat....and we like spicy food. Only thing that made dinner good was a pad thai meal we also shared, by another camp meal company. We probably will try another veggie meal by this company, but at home, first.

Not good

Purchased this for an overnight kayaking trip. I was pretty excited to try something different from the usual camp meal but this was a complete miss. Way too spicy and the texture was really offputting. There's better camp meals out there.

Amazing

I've used it several times

Never thought I'd be able to take Korean food with me on the go, and this is surprisingly good. I've had a few things from GTG, and I feel that they're the best for instant food.

A great choice from this delicious brand

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

As someone who loves all Good To Go backpacking meals, I was eager to try this one when it came out. I was not disappointed; this meal combines savory and spicy well. It also is more than enough for a dinner; I need to be very hungry to finish a full packet. I enjoyed this one on Mt. Adams watching the sun set over the clouds below Rainier. A good meal and a good memory.

Almost everything else from this brand is awesome. Only backpacking meals I buy now. Haven't tried this one yet though.

TASTY

Familiarity:

I love Good to Go's meals. Not to familiar with Korean cuisine but as far as dehydrated meals go, this is one the best I've ever had. Super flavorful, filling and just a little bit spicy too. Usually I can eat a "two serving" dehydrated meal by myself but this one truly does have 2 servings.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I took this backpacking with us and it was very flavorful and spicy. I would recommend if you put alot of hot sauce on your food, but might not recommend if you are in the desert (as we were) with no beer (as we were).

Try it!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Good-To-Go makes the best backpacking meals I've ever had-while most meals leave you bloated from too much salt and whatever else is in there , these guys taste about as fresh as you can get for opening a store bought package while chillin in the backcountry. I love all the flavors!

Best Camping Food Out there

I have worked with this company a few times and everyone involved in this product cares about what they are putting in it and what you are eating. It is healthy and filling and most of all tastes amazing. I love how I can read all the ingredients and I know what they are. Also as a vegetarian these are some amazing options that are leagues better than any other brand i know.

The Bibimbop is not your average bland dehydrated meal. It's a good spice level and I like very spicy food. Good To Go is different from most freeze dried meals because it's cooked together and then dehydrated, not freeze dried. Freeze Dried meals have all the ingredients freeze dried separately and then combined in the package. The co-founder of Good-to-Go is Head Chef Jennifer Scism who led the first team on Iron Chef to win against Mario Batali, and were the show’s first all women team.
