That came out of a bag?

A few too many rounds of beefy-nacho-cheese macaroni on your last backpacking trip had you ready to swear off freeze-dried food completely. But Good To-Go's Indian Vegetable Korma will surely restore your faith in backcountry meals. This mild, creamy curry is filled with bold flavors, packed with protein, and loaded with carrots, parsnips, green beans, and sweet peas. Unlike most instant camping meals, Good To-Go prides themselves on filling their delicious provisions with ingredients you can actually pronounce. It's so tasty there's a good chance you'll be preparing this for dinner when you get back to your apartment—no judgement.

Tasty Indian Food in the Backcountry

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

4/5 stars because even at the recommended cooking time, with the exact amount of water, some ingredients didn't taste fully re-hydrated. I brought a ziplock of pre cooked rice to mix in which was a great idea, because it doubled the quantity and made it way tastier. For out of a bag, it was really delicious.

Good food but maybe better options

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

We took three different brands of food backpacking. This one was fine but not the best we tasted. It is a great vegetarian option though and we were glad to have some variety with the Indian food, which I think this was the only Indian food package we took. Easy to prepare. Our stove had run out of fuel so we were preparing food with water boiled over the fire. That was a little tougher to get the water consistently as hot as was probably ideal for making this particular food.

    Good backpacking food

This meal was pretty tasty and, along with a side was plenty for two. I do have to say that I found myself wanting this served over rice or quinoa. Overall, tasty.

      Top 5 Freeze Dried Meal

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I eat the double servings myself, and these Good To Go meals always leave me satiated and full. This flavor in particular is a great one, just not my fave (helloooo Thai Curry!).

Compared to Backpacker's Pantry and Mountain House, I like the more compact packaging of G2G as well, it really helps with longer trips. I recently completed a 6 day backpacking trip, and managed to fit all of my food in a 10L dry bag, thanks to the sizing of all G2G dinners.

      Indian Backcountry Hit

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Indian food can be hit or miss in the backcountry and I was a tad skeptical of the more bold flavors for camping, but it tasted fantastic and settled without issue. I love all of the other meals so naturally I tried this. They are delicious, nutritious, and filling. The flavors of other freeze dried meals cant compare and you are supporting a local Maine business!
