Works fine on a 2023 Ford Ranger

Charges a 3000x approx. 600-700w on a 2023 Ford Ranger XLT with a smart alternator with the latest firmware updates. The only downside I've found that after about an hour as things heat up, it'll ramp down to 0w input until it cools down and ramps up again so don't expect a constant charge from 0% to 100% in one go. The wires never get hot but the yetilink gets pretty warm. I'm sure updates will continue to improve it. That being said, it's absolutely amazing and completely removes the need to have solar panels on an overlanding rig.

Works great! Easy install!

Now I can plug in tools, blenders for margaritas, charge batteries for my cordless tools, you name it! I could live off grid in my truck if I had too!!!

Smart Alternator

If you have a newer vehicle I would definitely not recommend this product I’ve installed a GZ 1500x into my van build (vw crafter) and the vehicle link pulls a charge for a few minutes and then doesn’t charge at all particularly on long road trips. Goal Zero said that the last update fixed the smart alternator problem but it doesn’t still have the same issue. If I had know this issue I would not have put a goal zero set up in my van as it’s a pretty fundamental requirement for van life. I don’t understand why goal zero can’t fix this issue.

Game changer

We've had a Yeti 1500X for 2 years, and had been using our vehicles built in 120V, 400W inverter to top off our Yeti enroute to our camping locations, and it worked for longer distance trips since the charge time was so slow. The vehicle integration kit charges at about 750W from the alternator, which brings charge time to minutes not hours. It's changed our lead up time preparing for a trip, and whether we need to set up solar on a multi stop trip.

2006 Ford Econline

I purchased this for my weekender van. It did not come with instructions. I have however watched so many YouTube videos on the process I was able to set it up with little difficulty. It works very well with my 1000x charging it very quickly.

Amazing way to charge your goal zero 6000X

It took some planning to get me started as I’m new to this poeer distribution on Mercedes Sprinter. Once I ordered my yeti link for vehicle integration, I had to plan out where is going to be place and started to disassemble stuff in the van to access the battery compartment. Then I worked on removing the driver seat and installed to negative and positive terminals. Routed the cable around the driver seat to the side bottom of seat belt panel. Plugged the cable to the back side of yeti link, of course I didn’t forget to set it up for car mode, started the van and there it goes. I’m charged between 515 to over 600watts just idling. Very happy with the result. Not so bad for a rookie work😝😅

Works with 2021 Jeep Gladiator

I used this system on a custom trailer setup with my Jeep Gladiator(smart alternator) and it worked just fine. Traveled over 8,000mi with this setup w/o any problems. Our Goal Zero Yeti 1000x was always at 100%, I would recommend this to everyone.

High power even with smart alternator

Ive installed these kits on many 2019-22 Diesel Sprinter and a few 2022 Transit, it works with the smart alternators just fine on both vehicles, it works with single and double battery Transit just fine. As high as 750W @idle. Do your research, the issue isn't the link module, no additional dc-dc required. Charging algorithm is odd at times but otherwise product works as claimed, not the cheapest DC-DC and is loud when charging at higher power. Updated kits with the fuse and locking EC8 connectors was a nice safety upgrade. Would like to see the ec8 cable at an optional 15'.

Smart alternators

For new vehicles with smart alternators I use DC2DC 40A between vehicle battery and Yeti link; works great.
