4 years and still going strong

Nomad 5 & Flip 12 bought in 2019 and still performs. I use this charger regularly while on kayaking, bikepacking and hiking trips. My routine is to hang it from the top/ back of my pack/ pannier daily & charge the Flip 12 first & the direct charge my phone, InReach or watch. In Australia we have no trouble with high UV, maybe that’s why it works so efficiently? The Flip 12 is small and can only charge my phone from flat to 70%, but that’s all I need. I could have bought the bigger chargers, but I love how the 12 sits almost flush with the back of the panel. The solar panel is super robust. It gets thrown around in the outside of my hiking pack and doesn’t skip a beat. It also charges when exposed to water when kayaking & bikepacking. Honestly, when (if???) it’s stops working, I’ll buy another.

Goal Zero Sense to buy it

Keep in mind that it will work ONLY under direct sunlight. Under an overcast sky, or even during morning/evening low sun id doesn't work at all.

pair with a flip12 for maximum effectiveness

Regularly use mine with the flip12 to boost up my devices. With the semi-regular power outages we get here in TX it's super handy to be able to juice up power banks with this little guy. Charges my flip12 in just a couple of hours typically.

Great thing to own

Fits on the back of a backpack I have with some carabiners so makes charging things in my bag easy when I’m on the go. I would definitely suggest if you hike or go to a theme park to pick one up.

Solar

Not effective enough while hiking. You need it to be in direct sunlight for 6-8 hrs to full charge small goal zero power pack

Keeps Small Devices Charged in the Backcountry

So far it has served its purpose well and as long as there is sun out it recharges a Flip 12 or boast up your phone fairly fast. Rugged construction that has taken a beating well, with only a light scratch from some branches. Clip points make fastening it to your pack or tent handy, but the hole design requires larger carabiners. Only real grip would be weight if you are counting ounces.

Perfect for the backcountry!

The lightweight, compact nature of the solar panel makes it one of my favorites for throwing on the back of a pack during a hike or ski tour in the backcountry. The Nomad can easily charge a phone, headlamp or string of lights. While the kickstand is great for stable placement, it needs to be in a wind protected area to avoid blowing over.

Sturdy and packs well

I bought this for a recent hunting trip. Even when cloudy it kept my phone (and thus my GPS) running strong. It survived multiple good falls and kept going strong. Super happy with it.
