Good things come in small packages

If Goal Zero were to say good things come in small packages, they would be referring to their Lighthouse Micro Flash. I was seriously impressed with the brightness and usefulness of this tiny little lantern/flashlight. I found this item to be the perfect lantern to bring along backpacking. It can be easily clipped to the outside of your backpack and is perfect for hanging at the top of the tent as a lantern.

      Blinded by the Light

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I thought this would make a nice nightlight for my kiddos while we're camping. Nope. The Lighthouse Micro Flash is very, very bright. Too much for inside the tent. Fortunately it features both a full ring of light or a half-ring. We use ours mostly with half of the ring lit up and it's awesome for outside the tent. I prefer the Micro Flash vs headlamps since I am much less likely to pull the campfire faux pas of shining my lamp into someone's face if I'm carrying this tool. One thing I've noticed is that it takes longer than you'd expect to recharge the battery. Charging overnight before you leave on your next adventure is recommended.

If you don't particularly enjoy using headlamps, this is for you. I wear mine on a string like a necklace and it works great for around camp. It's incredibly bright!

This thing rocks! I got it as a gift and had no idea how awesome it would be. It's super bright and small, which makes it great for camping. The run time on it is very long and the fact that you can recharge it instead of buying batteries saves money over time. You'll be stoked on this purchase!

150 Lumens? More like 100000 Lumens.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So everyone, including goal zero, is claiming this is only a 150 lumen light... but it just feels so much brighter. They've really dialed in the lens/amplification. No light goes to waste. For it's size (fits in the palm of my hand), weight and runtime, there's nothing that compares. In flashlight mode, the little ring up top snaps securely to the body, and in lantern mode, multiple LED's light up the sides in a downward facing arc. My only gripe is that the USB port is not better protected when it's in the "stowed" position. Not a big deal, but I can see it becoming an issue if I drop it in the desert dirt a few times. Since this is version 1.0, we'll let it slide...
