    Don't go anywhere without it

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this little charger for weekend camping or travel. It's so small and easy to take anywhere, and keeps my phone, headlamp, or watch fully charged.

Works well but with a design flaw

Great little charger but the charge port is a flimsy usb port that flips out. Without a cord you are very limited on how you can charge it. On the Goal Zero solar panels the USB out is on a cord so it makes it a nonissue.

      gets the job done right

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have only used it to charge my phone and camera and it has been awesome. 3 full charges out of it. it is not too big or heavy, and seems indestructible. Only down side I have noticed is the usb piece that flips out is a weird design. I get trying to save chords by building it in to the piece but its inconvenient and simply dumb.

      Works well.

Small and compact. Great small battery. The construction seems durable and the indicator light is great for determining how much power is remaining in the unit. As everyone before me has stated previously, the recharge flip USB device is flimsy. Also, your friends will try to steal this to charge their phones.

      Only One Issue...

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm a classic dead phone person, so I just picked this up a couple weeks ago and it has worked super well so far. I've brought it camping and got three full charges on it with life to spare. Only one was for my phone. BEWARE: FRIENDS WILL STEAL YOUR CHARGES! Anyways, I love that you can just press the USB piece in to see how much of a charge is left before loaning out. I've also taken this around town to keep my phone charged and while it's got a bit of weight to it, it's very portable.

My only gripe with this is the way it charges. You need to flip out a little USB piece (already connected) to plug into a USB charger. This is nice in theory since you don't need any cords to charge, but the issue is that the weight of the charger pulls it out of the port. Wall Charger? Forget it, there is no way to keep this in without propping it up. Basically, you need to plug this into a computer or use some sort of a floor outlet/power strip. It seems like they could have provided a secondary charging option, especially in case that USB piece breaks off.

That's the only reason for 4 stars. Other than that this seems like a great piece of gear and hopefully if it's on par with other GZ products, should last a long time.

      Goal Zero Flip 30 Recharger

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Anyone who has a smart phone and likes taking picture to document their adventure knows the frustration of dead phone. This definitely solves that problem. It does everything its suppose to. My only issue is with the flip USB plug that is used to charge the device. It is extremely flimsy, and makes it difficult to plug into most charging ports. I have no idea why they went with this design , because everything else is very durable. I have only had it for a short time but it seems like this is not going to last long. I would recommend going with a different model.

      Never leave home without it!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

With how much of our lives are spent on our phones these days, a spare battery is just part of the kit we carry when leaving the house. This is a great little battery that charges my phone 2-3 times no problem, and a few camera batteries along the way. I am not a huge fan of the "flip" USB plug, as it makes plugging into certain ports a hassle, and it's not always possible to use because of this. Also, I could see this being the only real failure point of the device.

      Buy Two, His and hers

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

For people that have cell phone batteries that drain too fast and plan on spending extra time away from a power outlet, this is an amazing product. I originally bought one for myself, but ended up giving it to my partner and buying a second one.
I use this to keep my music playing when I'm riding. Keeps your phone charged the whole time you are on the mountain.

      Portable Power

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have the Flip 20 which was just a bit to small for longer trips or if I am wanting to have multiple things to charge. The 30 is as great as the 20; being a bit bigger, still able to fit in the palm of your hand, but has noticeably more power. You are able to charge a phone 3-4 times depending on how low it is, and it takes a few hours to get fully charged if depleted fully. Pairs perfectly with Goal Zero solar panels.

Anybody who owns a cellphone can find a use for one of these.

I gave my mom one as a gift, and she uses it to keep her phone charged on 3-4 day bike-packing trips. The battery is big enough to charge an Iphone just over 3 times.

I have one too and I end up using it way more than I ever plan to. I leave it plugged in all the time so when I am about to leave the house for something fun and my phone is at 10%, I can just grab this. It especially comes in handy when I am playing music via Bluetooth, since that will drain your phone battery really fast. Beyond that, I always have it with me when I travel.
