    Just a little looser.

Giro’s HV, or High Volume, and standard-size cycling shoes are built on the same last, but utilize different cuts to the upper material, and longer straps to accommodate larger feet. Now, if you’re barefoot waterskiing on some 4E-width skis, you may want to look for a truly wide-sized cycling shoe, but if you’re in the D to 2E range, and you have high arches or large-diameter feet, the Giro HV line is the ideal solution to your shoe fit conundrum.

The Trans E70 uses Easton EC70 carbon fiber in the sole, along with a never-stretch-out microfiber upper. The shoes close with two hook-and-loop straps, along with a ratcheting buckle. The Trans shoes ship with Easton’s lauded SuperNatural Fit Kit, a customizable insole system that allows you to tune the fit to your precise standards.

    Great shoe for wider feet

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 43cm
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 230lbs

Its sometimes tough to find shoes that fit wider feet but the Giro Trans E70 fit the bill. These are my second pair of shoes from Giro, the are replacing my used up pair that I bought four years ago. All the features of the higher end shoes are there, just at a lower price.

Finally, a bike shoe that fits

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I should mention that I ride a Lightning Cycle Dynamics P-38 recumbent. I have small, wide feet with high arches. Finding a bike shoe that I can ride with all day is a major problem.
I've used these twice now, and I'm delighted. I bought them to mount extended Speedplay Ultralight Action cleats. These are necessary because one foot developed a neuroma (a consequence of narrow bike shoes and a lifetime of riding—"hot foot" is what most riders call the developing problem.) I also needed a wide shoe for the same reason. These fit beautifully with the "supernatural fit" kit, which is really well designed and implemented. No more pain or hot foot after a mere 10 to 15 miles! They also don't dig into the front of my ankle like most strap fastening shoes do. (That will ruin your ride in a hurry.)
I hope Giro keeps producing this shoe. If I find out not, I'll buy another pair—I'd hate to wear them out without a replacement.
Sizing: There is a lot of difference in how manufacturers size shoes, and I don't trust their size charts. I find the Giro shoes in general to run small, the EV is no exception. I normally wear a US 8.5 EE shoe. Giro size chart says this is a 41.5. I needed a 43 (US 9, according to Giro).

    Fantastic Shoe!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 42
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 185lbs

These appear to run small. I normally wear a 42, needed a 43 HV. Got the 43HV, used the SuperNatural fit kit, and they fit … supernaturally. Probably the best fitting cycling shoe I've ever tried on. I recommend you buy two pairs, your size and a half or one size up, keep the one that fits your foot best. I wish I had a pair of regular shoes that fit this well.

    Perfect for me

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

The biggest problem with me is my feet, i have a big foot and need something with high volume, the shoes fit perfectly in my normal size but give me the space i need to stay comfortable. If you have been looking for something that fits correctly but doesn't create pain to wear then this is your shoe.
