    Great for road cleats

    I've used it several times

I bought this shoe because of its sleek roadie looks and its compatibility with 2- and 3-bolt cleats. Originally I used my existing 2-bolt SPD cleats. The problem is that this road-type shoe does not recess the cleat or protect it with ridges on either side, so when you walk your only contact with the ground is at the heel and the narrow SPD cleat. Not good for the stairways at my commuter train stations. So I switched to SPD-SL road cleats and pedals. They're much better anyway - much more snug clipped-in connection - and easier to walk on. The shoes look great and they work great. My only complaint is that the MTB bolt receivers inside the shoe have a tendency to rattle and I can hear them when I walk. If that could be eliminated I would love the shoes. They needed some breaking-in at first, but now they fit perfectly. Mileage at time of writing: 105 miles.

On Giro shoes like this model, the is an access window below the footbed for removal of the plate. It must be snipped open.

    Do these come with cleats?
