    Saga Helmet

The Giro Saga Helmet is a more affordable chapter in the arcing story of modern, ultra-aerodynamic cycling helmets. So much science is focusing on aerodynamics these days, it's no wonder that the humble helmet — responsible for surprisingly large amounts of drag on your bike — has been thoroughly revised over the last few seasons to become more slippery. The results speak for themselves — witness their popularity in the pro peloton, and the success of Giro's Synthe aero helmet. Of course, we can't all afford the seriously fancy stuff, so Giro made fancy stuff that's more affordable for the Average Jane, and here we have the Giro Saga Helmet.

We can tell you off the bat that the Saga isn't quite as light, as breathable, or as slippery in the wind as the Synthe, but it's darn close. It utilizes many of the same technologies in both materials and manufacturing as well. It's made with Giro's In-Mold construction, a technique that firmly unifies the helmet's EPS foam liner to a polycarbonate shell, as opposed to simply adhering the two together, creating a lighter, stronger structure that's potentially safer and far more durable. The helmet follows Giro's Streamlined Design language, allowing slick style to permeate the functional aerodynamic shape that dictates the helmet's efficiency. Finally, the Roc Loc 5 retention system dials in the proper fit to your head, comfortably and easily, while still being up to 40% lighter than competing systems.

    • Giro's affordable helmet benefitting from the same tech as its top-tier lids
    • In-Mold Construction is light, durable, and provides better ventilation
    • EPS foam liner helps to absorb impact forces
    • 22 Wind Tunnel vents keep you cool when it's hot out
    • Roc Loc 5 retention system creates a snug, comfortable, custom fit
    • Item #GIR007N

    The Price Got Me!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Let me preface this, I have yet to crash with this helmet so I can't tell you how it performs under pressure but so far it's a great helmet. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because my head gets hot with this on, its likely due to the large amount of hair I have and not the helmet's fault but I want more airflow. Otherwise the price was right and so far its stayed on my head and makes me look safe!

    B & B - Budget Minded, Big Performance

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Let's face it, cycling may be rewarding, but it's not exactly cheap. This helmet will ease the budget while protecting your noggin, looking cool and the lighter weight will have you thinking you spent more than you did. No issues with the sizing--safe to use the size chart as your guide. can't beat that deal

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

for the money you can't get a better deal. Giro makes a great helmet, it fits well, pretty standard with all giro helmets, same sizing as my other giro and bell helmets. It rides comfortably and is relatively light, no issues after 50+ mile ride.
