    More coverage for more confidence.

Flat pedals win medals they say, and if you're in the camp of death before clipless, the Men's Riddance Mid Cycling Shoe might just be your new flat pedal trail shoes of choice. It has a host of features providing you the confidence needed to progress your trail or park game in any condition.

Giro has a long relationship with the technical rubber experts at Vibram so it wasn't a surprise to see Giro calling it up and asking for the rubber needed on the stickiest sole it's ever launched. This new Megagrip ISR rubber not only sticks to your pedals with impressive tenacity, it helps dampen vibrations that lead to sore feet and fatigue. Rubber toe and heel reinforcements further increase durability while the gummy rubber with optimized tread design mates to the Riddance’s full-length EVA midsole that soaks up the hits on stomped landings or if you have to land sans bike.

The upper is constructed from a durable, supple, and water-resistant microfiber that's breathable, easy to care for, and looks great. A lace closure offers a near custom fit while the hook-and-loop strap offers additional support and hides the laces from hungry chains. This mid-top version adds a little more coverage for protection against your bike's frame, wheels, pedals, and cranks, as well as the trail and ramps and more support to prevent rolled ankles.

    • A protective and comfortable shoe for progressing in the dirt
    • Synthetic microfiber upper material is supple and durable
    • Grippy Vibram outsole sticks to flat pedals
    • Lace-up closure with hook-and-loop protective strap
    • Additional ankle coverage offers more padding and support

    Grip and rip

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Having used the Jacket shoe from Giro in the past I was excited to try out the riddance mid. I am really impressed with these shoes so far. The soles are very grippy and hook up with my chromag contact pedals very well. I have heard other people say that Giro soles are not as grippy as Fiveten soles which I have no experience with, but the riddance mid is plenty grippy for me. The ankle support is my favorite part of the shoe, it allows me to press my ankle into my cranks which is really helpful in rowdy terrain and for styling out on bigger jumps. The strap that covers the laces is also pretty sweet and it keeps hungry chain rings from eating laces. The shoe is stiff and requires a 2-3 ride break in period but I prefer a stiff shoe to a soft one so I view this as a good thing. Would be interesting to see how these stack up against Fiveten's freeride high shoe, but I am very happy with the riddance so far after about 15 rides. I wear a size 12 sneaker and purchased the 45s which are nice and snug but very comfortable.

Recreational mountain biker, first pair of flat soled MTB shoes. Never thought I needed any special shoe but decided to put away the old Asics and try these out. What a difference they slipping, great grab, more pedal power....I was shocked at what I had been missing. Cons: a little clunky, heavy-ish (I’m sure the riddance low would be a little more streamlined) and a little stiff but I have only had them for a short time. Pros: almost ZERO slip, solid feel, confidence with the mids that I wasn’t going to bash my inner ankle bone, and hell yeah, they look pretty cool. Would definitely recommend.

    Great MTB Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've ridden Five Ten's up until I recently picked these up and haven't looked back. In my opinion, they are far more protective, grippy, and durable than my old Freerider pros. I also have more faith that the vibram sole, offered by the Riddance, will hold up longer than the stealth sole.

The fit was spot on for me, I'm a 9.5 US size and the 43's fit perfectly. This is a narrow shoe, however, and I have a narrow foot - so fair warning.

One last thing: this is a stiff shoe, so be prepared for a break in period.
