    The classy commuter.

Giro's Republic LX Shoes offer the perfect combination of functionality and style, providing you a smooth transition from the bike to the street. Giro gave the new Republic LX a touch of sophistication with the beautiful leather upper and micro-suede heel counter. Giro also added a molded EVA footbed, providing you with medium-level arch support. The Republic LX features a lace closure, and the injected-nylon outsole (with 2-bolt cleat mount) gives you a solid platform for pedaling. And for those moments off the bike, Giro has integrated replaceable walking pads into the outsole to keep you safe and comfortable.

    Handsome Shoes w/Stiff Platform

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 44

I switched from Carnac to Specialized BG shoes about 15 years ago when long rides began producing numb feet. The BG shoes cured the numbness, but this last pair--even with new inserts (the BG magic)--has not been as good as previous. I thought it was time for a change, and the looks of these shoes drew me in.
Straps are easy to use, but I've found I can tailor the fit of my hiking boots better with laces than with straps, so I wondered if all these years using cycling shoes with straps have obscured the better wrap of the cycling shoe around my foot? I think the answer is Yes.
Besides the stiffer platform than I've been using, the upper of these shoes are still being broken in, but are very comfortable. The laces 'garage' is pretty simple and pretty brilliant, and the cushioning is very nice--not overdone or under.
Time will tell how they hold up, I'm only about 500 miles in them so far. I'm using them with Speedplay Frogs (on all my bikes, on and off road), and they're proving to be a good platform for the cleats.
They seem to run small at least 1/2 size. I wear a 43 to 43.5 in many shoes, and had to order the 44s and wasn't sure at first if those weren't a tad too tight.
I'm also seeing--here in only coolish weather--they might need greater breathability than they seem to, and if I continue liking them will look at the perforated Reflective version of the shoe.
I've used Giro helmets almost exclusively since the original Hammerhead (about 25+ years ago), and their Hoxton Gloves are supreme, and they've broken away from the pack with these shoes, too.

Only time will tell if I can give that fifth star, but they're a hard four as is.

Designed with class and street smarts

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

First off, these are some awesome urban/touring shoes and can be dressed up or down if you find yourself caring an extra pair of shoes for daily commute for work.

Second, be sure to size up because these shoes run small. I’m normally a 43, but find the 44 to fit like a glove with comfort.

The only detail I wish Giro gave more attention too was to provide a better rubber sole for walking. Fortunately the sole pads can be replaced, but I do think they wear out far too fast and Giro can do better.

Finally, the shadow grey looks great in the day yet when that light shines on them in a restaurant or cafe. Your shoes shimmer like a disco ball… and not everyone understands that your wearing bike shoes. C'est la vie.

    I wear a size 44 = 10 in sidi shoes. Looking at giro republic lx, but u don't have 43.5 = 10. R the 43 loser to a size 10 or the 44?

I kind of have the same question. I wear a 43.5 in Shimano. I will say that I saw a demo/used pair of the Republic in a 43 and they looked too small for me (did not try on), and I kind of have a "carpenter's eye" for shoes. I'll add more here if I get any more details!
