Revolution Number 9.

The Giro Nine helmet has come a long way since its introduction in 2001. The shell's design has been re-shaped into a sleeker, lower-profile design, too, and integrated into it are both Super Cool vents with Thermostat Control adjustability and Giro's Stack Vent up front to keep goggles from fogging. The Giro Nine MIPS Helmet also uses the MIPS system to keep your head safer in a crash.

The Nine also utilizes Giro's In Form Fit System makes it easy to dial in the perfect fit, even with gloves, while the Vertical Tuning feature can accommodate a wide variety of both head and goggle shapes. Rounding everything out is the helmet's compatibility with all aftermarket Giro audio systems so you can keep the jams pumping.

The big story behind the Giro Nine MIPS helmet is the MIPS system. The MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) structure integrates easily into the Nine's bones without altering its look. MIPS is the separation of the EPS foam shell from the retention system (the part that grabs your head) via a semi-floating suspension system, so that when the shell absorbs an impact, or two, or four, in a crash, it doesn't transfer that energy directly into the skull. Instead, forces are isolated, saving your head and neck from undo impacts. Developed in Scandinavia more than 10 years ago, the MIPS system has been continually revised and applied to an ever-growing number of helmets in different sports, and it's been credited with saving countless noggins from more serious injury.

Giro Nine for 2018

bought it as it seemed time to replace my old Giro, and went for the new MIPS technology . Ya got just one head. good looking in the matte black, and fit true to size. very happy with it, and Backcountry does a great job.

Comfortable and Lightweight

I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Got this helmet for my Dad to replace his old Giro Nine helmet. He is an expert skier and pretty picky about his gear and he loves this helmet. It's really lightweight and fits true to size. It's on the larger size profile wise but not overwhelming. Looks great with a pair of larger frame goggles. Vents on top are a nice touch as well. If you have any questions on this helmet feel free to reach out!

Giro Helmet

I've put it through the wringer

I had a pretty good crash the other day with this helmet and it kept my head from cracking open. My head still hurt a little though. The whole interior padding comes out for cleaning which is really nice. There is also air vents that open and close with the switch on top, It's helpful. It fits pretty good and has a solid build. A little more suspension or cushion wouldn't hurt because the padding is pretty thin. Update: Even though boarding season is now over, I was looking at it and couldn't help but notice that the piece holding the inner headband had come out of the foam holding it in. Its still okay though, I just wanted to share that...

Glad to hear the MIPS technology is doing its job!
