Why We Like The Jackson MIPS Helmet

For bootpacking up and skiing down, the Giro Jackson MIPS Helmet offers the protection you need and the aerodynamics to keep you up to speed. With a modern profile that creates a smooth top-shell to boost aerodynamics, the Jackson is designed to perform on fast downhill runs. Streamlined venting with Giro’s Passive Aggressive Venting system keeps air flowing into the helmet while avoiding the aerodynamic drag of wide-open vents. And a slight brim helps shape goggles to the helmet for a complete system designed for comfort and performance.

Fit and safety are central for Giro as well, and the Jackson MIPS keeps the weight down to reduce neck strain, and the Form 2 Fit system dials-in the comfort and can be adjusted with gloved hands. EPS foam and MIPS are there in case of tumbles or harder hits.

Excellent helmet

I've had this helmet for the 3 last seasons and its performed flawlessly. I use it for both inbounds and backcountry skiing. Its low profile and quite light compared to other helmets. I use it with my Smith I/O mag goggles and both goggle and helmet work well together (can't speak to other goggle makes/models though).

Fits Well But Breezy

This is my first ski helmet, and I am overall quite happy with it. It fits me very well, is not too heavy, and looks...well, it looks great if you like the astronaut look. (I don't, but after two concussions, one bike riding and another skiing, I thought I'd better wear one.) There is only one problem: the wind blows in around my ears and is rather chilly. That's OK when it's 35 degrees out, but I ski in New England and it gets REAL cold here. So now I'm looking for a beanie to wear under it, against all advice, and contrary to the common wisdom that "helmets are warmer than hats."

This helmet is warm, durable and barley feels like anything is even on your head! I love it for touring in any condition and for bell to bell days at the resort! Highly recommend!

Best in the game

Familiarity:

Sleek design paired with a well thought out ventilation system is hard to beat. Adjustability makes this helmet super comfortable in seconds. Paired with some Giro goggles makes for a seamless, fogless fit. Add the MIPS feature and you can't pass this up, super solid!

Stellar dome piece

Lightweight, comfortable, and the venting system is super effective in keeping your noggin nice and cool. Favorite thing is the vent integrated into the brim of the helmet, which allows your goggles to breathe and prevents fog. Nobody likes goggy foggles.
