    Jackson MIPS Helmet

Prepare for another best day ever spent on the mountain while wearing the Giro Jackson MIPS Helmet. Designed with MIPS technology, the helmet absorbs impact force and redirects energy through the MIPS two-part system. The Hardshell exterior and in-mold foam interior work together to disperse and minimize the shock through the impact. The Passive-Aggressive venting system works to keep the interior of the helmet cool without being too cold. Escape vents allow for heat to move out of the helmet while in motion and at rest. On especially warm spring days, the XT2 padding resists odor to help maintain a fresh, like new feel and smell.

    Fits my big oval head

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I don't really have the luxury of being picky with helmets. I've got a pretty oblong head, meaning that usually only an XL will fit without uncomfortable pressure fore and aft. And of course then I look ridiculous, and I could probably stash extra gear in all that space on the sides. My last helmet from K2 fit in this category and I didn't shed tears when it took an accidental ride down a long gully and disappeared forever (or until next spring).

After trying on a ridiculous number of replacement helmets, I finally found a Goldilocks solution in the Giro Jackson MIPS, and in an L no less! As a bonus it's reasonably light, doesn't look too bad and it works well with my goggles. I don't have a very sweaty head, so I've been able to wear it on the uphill on colder days while touring. The venting seems perfectly adequate, but at the MSRP price point a lot of helmets have adjustable venting. I find it's fine without, but I'm also in a dry climate and don't have a sweaty head so YMMV.

Now for a couple minor nits to pick:

    - The outer shell plastic seems a bit softer than it looks. I've picked up some noticeable dings despite not really making significant contact with anything and only having worn it 10 days.

    - While perfectly functional, the rear goggle clip seems a bit flimsy and I won't be surprised when it breaks.

Overall it's a good helmet and I'd recommend checking it out (and others in the Giro line) if you also have a really oval/oblong head and have trouble finding helmets that fit well.

Get the MIPS version for safety! Love this. The ventilation is great and the fit works well with my goggles. I've gone through a few Smith helmets and this might be my favorite!

    Action Jackson!

I have had some crazy expensive helmets from other brands and that is the main thing that stands out to me about this Giro Jackson helmet. It is Fantastic, it breathes well, the fit is amazing and the adjustment is great. I always wear a Medium when it comes to Bike helmets. I typically fit at the larger end of medium but with winter helmets from Oakley, Smith, POC and Giro I have found that sizing up to a Large prevents any unwanted pressure points.

I typically run my goggle strap on the outside of my helmet, and the strap retention does a solid job and is easy to find.

I have a more oval head and the Giro does a fantastic job and fits similarly to the Oakley and POC helmets.

Does this helmet have a good fit with the oakley flight deck goggles, gaper gap?

Found out for myself. Great fit with the flight decks and probably most goggles because this helmet and I think all giro helmets have vertical tuning, which allows for the helmet to move forward and backwards.
