    A(ero)ffordable protection.

Over the past few years, the helmet world has shown a massive trending toward aero options such as the Giro Synthe and Air Attack. While these helmets look cool and reduce drag, they're not always at a price point most of us can afford. For those of us without unlimited funds who want in on the aero-helmet fun, Giro created the Foray Helmet. This helmet delivers almost all the lightweight and aero performance of the top-line Synthe, but at a fraction of the price. With the Foray's sleek design and tons of color options, you'll be able to find one to match your kit or stand out in the crowd on any ride.

A lime green pop of visibility.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My old helmet was more than five years old; time for a replacement. This one is lighter weight and more comfortable than my old one. It is summer here and my head stays cool because this helmet is well ventilated. It is a bright yellow-green which happens to be my favorite color, and I'm sure it's very visible in low light. A good purchase!

    Solid

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a solid helmet in that it doesn't exactly excel in any areas but gets the job done. As noted in another review, my main gripe with this helmet is that the the strap adjustment point digs into your face. It is not to the point of wanting to return the helmet, but noticeable at times. Overall the helmet is fairly light and fits fine with the proven Giro retention system.

    Straps need work

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Really wanted to like this helmet but had to return. Great looking/fitting helmet but the straps and 'side buckle' (where the strap on each side meet in a 'V' are an inferior design. As much as I tried to adjust the buckle, the rear strap would always twist forward, pressing into either the side of my face or ear. if the straps would lay flat on the side of your face, it would be comfortable to wear. Also, the strap material is what they call tubular nylon, I believe. There is other material, woven like what you find in a seatbelt, that is more flexible, thinner, and more comfortable. Not sure if it's on all Giro's or just the 'affordable' models. Checked out a Specialized Propero II at LBS and it was about twice as much but also twice as comfortable. Strap design and material was completely different.
