Everybody loves merino wool, so it was a no brainer for Giro to use it in the New Road Women's Boy Shorts. It does seriously everything. It's warm in the winter, cool in the summer, stretchy, breathable, moisture wicking, and naturally odor resistant, so you'll be hard pressed to find a situation in which the New Road doesn't work well and feel great--we've even had reports of people wearing them as casual shorts, even with the lightweight built-in HP Tri chamois. Of course, bike shorts have to be sensible, too, so Giro wove nylon fibers into the merino, which adds a welcome shot of durability, and finished the New Road off with a non-binding waistband that won't slip down, ride up, or cause discomfort.

    Great Short

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I bought these for my girlfriend to get her biking more with me. Certainly a huge difference so far as most of you know. Her only complaint is the length and still rubbing legs on the seat. So i would recommend longer shorts over them.

    Giro boy shorts are essential!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

These are true to size (I wear a size 3 & 5 in leggings/jeggings/tight pants and bought a medium) and they're super comfy. They give a little after a long ride and they fit normal again after washing. They do exactly what they're supposed to on a bike ride - provide some cushion in the lower region while keeping it dry after a really long hard ride. Bought a couple after trying them out for a couple a rides.

Great for 20+ mi date night

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

Tried these on the MTB trail... no way, definitely not enough padding. However for 20+ mile pedaling around/dates down town and back home, they are great.

Holds shape and is comfortable all day

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I bought these thinking they would be great for bike touring. They are, but I love them so much I use them for everything in between. I can comfortably wear these all day at the office if I'm bike commuting. They have held their shape for me even after a long day in the saddle. I bought a Small. Natural waist: 28.5", Hips: 37". I'm typically a size 27/4 (but I'm a 6 in the Giro New Ride clothing line).

    Not worth the money

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large

I bought these after reading that it has a thin chamois (I don't like feeling like I'm wearing a diaper). I planned to use them for mountain biking. However, after a half hour of riding the fabric had stretched out significantly, and the legs had ridden up into my crotch. I am 5'4" and 130 pounds, and I bought the small. It may have been better if I bought the extra small, but I still felt they were not worth the hefty price. So, they went back. Very disappointing, I really wanted them to work.

    Light & comfy

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I'm impressed with this chamois. I just received it and only just now tried it out on an hour quicky mountain bike ride. It is light and comfy, not bulky. The chamois feels very thin at first, but it surprisingly had a lot of cushion and protection from the saddle. I have yet to try it on a long ride. I love the fabric - it is light and soft and not scratchy. I'm impressed actually! I do love the orange.

I have used this on longer rides now, and as to be expected, I would prefer a thicker chamois for long hrs in the saddle. I am definitely getting good use out of this for quickie rides after work, and it would be perfect for riding into town as it can fit nicely underneath street clothes.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Am buying a 2nd pair b/c the orange has become my go to under layer for any type of biking -- commuting, fitness, or casual. The boy short is cut perfectly for my 5'7" athletic build - most of which is legs - long enough coverage length wise without constricting motion & doesn't ride up either. The merino/nylon fabric (89%/11%) has worked to keep me both warm in 40 and cool in 90 degree temps. These have worked under skinny and baggy cut jeans or shorts, and even alone on a quick saddle pilot. The pad repels odor better than ANY pad I ever used. Cushioned without being bulky and the super soft fabric is not visible under street wear. After awhile, I forget I have them on. Washed nicely (inside out) too.

    Ideal Liner Short

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

These shorts are great for cold and mild weather, as merino wool wicks sweat away from the body. These are soft and comfortable. Chamois is effective for minimizing chafing but is on the light side, and so provides minimal padding. Wonderful item!
