Agilis MIPS Helmet

Your cycling is a bit diverse — some days you're glued to the tarmac, and others you venture down dusty gravel roads that lead to ghost towns, and as such, you want a little more coverage than your average cycling helmet. The Agilis MIPS helmet fits deeper than standard road helmets, packing in a little extra protection, should you diverge from the pavement into territory that warrants a bit extra.

  • Giro's extended road-and-beyond helmet boosts coverage
  • RocLoc 5.5 MIPS system reduces forces from rotational impacts
  • Hard shell with in-mold EPS helps absorb energy from crashes
  • Extended coverage increases protection area
  • CoolFit anti-odor padding helps you stay fresh on the ride
  • 32 Wind Tunnel vents usher cool air towards your scalp
  • Adjustable turn dial lets you cinch in for the perfect fit
  • Ages 5 and older

I have both the MIPS and standard, non-MIPS versions of the Agilis. I purchased the MIPS version for the additional crash protection it is designed to offer. The non-MIPS version is noticeably cooler. It moves more air under the Styrofoam. It also fits my head shape perfectly, as did the several Atmos helmets I used prior to buying the standard version of the Agilis. The Agilis MIPS version does not move as much air and is just plain 'hotter'. The addition of the MIPS rotational inner shell also made the fit...not fit. It just doesn't feel comfortable on my skull. The MIPS liner is also a 'hair puller'. While wearing it and when removing it it likes to grab hair and try to pull it out. The MIPS version is also heavier. That's kind of a non-issue, but the difference is easily felt just holding the MIPS version in one hand and the standard version in the other hand. I have to adjust the Roc-Loc so tight on the MIPS version in order to keep it from rattling against my sunglasses that it can give me a headache. No such problem with the standard version of the Agilis. The MIPS version is a step backwards in every area except for the increased safety. I do not recommend buying it. I'm back to using the standard version and will possibly replace it with an Aether, but only after trying one on locally.
