Style and substantial warmth.
Leave it to the Italians at Giordana to insist that fashion and function can coexist peacefully in the saddle. Thought they're not as blatantly fashionable as the houndstooth Sosta Jacket, the Sosta Men's Bib Tights are imbued with stylish notes like contrast seams and an ankle zip overflap in order to add a bit of class to your winter base miles.
Despite their good looks, the Sosta Bib Tights are ultimately made for cold-weather cycling, so Giordana opts for Mititech's SuperRoubaix thermal material for the tights' body. SuperRoubaix is the classic take on winter cycling clothing, and its sturdier feel and low-loft, brushed inner face are the sensations we equate most with cold-weather base miles. It supports more confidently than summer-weight kit, and that light loft adds a layer of wicking insulation between your skin and the mid-winter chill.
Previous generations of Giordana winter kit have featured targeted panels of water resistance, but the Sosta expands that protection to encompass the entire article with an all-over DWR treatment. The DWR treatment compels water to bead and roll off rather than penetrate and compromise the Super Roubaix's insulated microclimate. It's not waterproof, but it does hold up to moderate precipitation and road spray—the latter of which is especially welcome for anyone who has suffered through the final 30 minutes of a damp winter ride with a chamois that, once wet, feels less like a highly engineered insert and more like a stinging bundle of frostbite.
The included Cirro S chamois, the same model Giordana uses for its lightweight racing kit, is definitely worth protecting. It comprises four total layers of material, the first of which is a microfiber cover infused with permanent Aloe Vera. Giordana claims this promotes healing of saddle sores and prevents irritation, but it's also got anti-odor properties whose utility is almost impossible to overstate. This cover encompasses three individual layers of cushion.
The insert's first layer is a 3mm open-cell foam that ventilates and manages moisture; the second is a 4mm-thick 120 density foam, also open-cell, which begins ramping up targeted support while maintaining ventilation; the final layer is 7mm of nonabsorbent memory foam that further defines the support/relief dichotomy and transfers moisture to the Super Roubaix fabric where it's summarily banished into a winter exile. The chamois is finished with what Giordana's referring to as a Copa Mondiale, which is a soft, microfiber pouch that gently supports the male anatomy.
The Sosta Bib Tights are finished with Giordana's lie-flat, elastic bibs, which sit with a low-profile so as not to interfere with mid and outer layering. Gripper cuffs help ensure there's no gap between the Sosta and shoecovers, and zippered ankle openings let Giordana build the cuffs to hug your ankles without being a pain to get on and off. The tights are finished with reflective detailing to help ensure you get noticed for something besides your fashion sense.

Best bib tight for me
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I am a huge Giordana bib fan. This bib tight is my favorite compared to others I own. It is true to size SMALL for me. It has those newer rubber band flat straps, which are awesome with just the right amount of tension, and they stay flat. The fabric feel medium thick. It has a zipper at each ankle. The compression feel just right for me. The pad is extremely comfortable even for riding a century. Not sure if it was by design but the front of the pad kind of form a pouch to lock in your boy so it does not move around. Don't you hate it when your boy moves to the side? If you are a fan of their Silverline shorts then you will be at home with this long leg version.
