    Merino 7in Wool Socks

Falling temperatures require more calculated steps towards layering before setting out on your next ride. The Giordana Merino Wool Tall Socks feature a tall, 7-inch cuff (nearly 18 centimeters) that layers comfortably underneath the cuffs of your winter tights, and should extend past the tops of most shoecovers as well. Giordana uses a premium New Zealand Merino wool that is warm and lightweight, highly breathable, and exceptionally soft -- these are all excellent qualities for cycling, and equally suitable for those off-days at the office too.

As we've written before, wool doesn't have to be scratchy. Merino wool is soft and comfortable. But in terms of overall use, durability and ease of care, 100% Merino isn't desirable. Giordana spun both nylon and Lycra into the fabric blend to ensure these socks will not wear out, or stretch out after extended use. Just remember to wash them on warm, and tumble dry (or simply hang them, as they should already be somewhat dry right out of the washer), they'll do fine.

The Giordana Merino Wool Tall Socks are constructed from a blend of Merino Wool, nylon for added durability and wear-resistance, and Lycra for stretch. You'll have two sizes to choose from: Small/Medium, which fits shoes sized 4.5 - 8.5, or Large/XL, which fits sizes 8.5 - 13.

These are clearly high quality socks, but it depends on what you're looking for. I wear Quindici's almost exclusively year-round, and thought this might be similar, but a little taller. No such luck. If you're accustomed to pretty thin socks, I suppose I can see these being somewhat warmer in cooler weather, but my feet have never been colder in 50 degrees F. I'm way more comfortable in the shorter Quindici's, and for colder temps, I throw on my Nanoflex leg warmers, rather then try to keep my lower leg warm with a sock. Also, for my tastes, I think these are too tall. I don't like any kind of sock cutting into my calf, which is why all my leisure socks are medium crew-height cycling socks. Also, I wear the largest size in Quindici's because my 43's are wide, and I don't like struggling to get my socks on. A medium might be a better fit in these.

Worn recently in 38-57 range. in the upper 30's the end of my toes was a little chilly, i didn't have any kind of cover over my shoes. I was fine in the upper 50's and wasn't sweating at all, could have gone up from there. They are very comfortable, they actually felt better after a ride and wash. The first ride I could feel the seem on the toes and wasn't sitting firm around them but now no issues. I'd suggest a light wash and dry according to Giordana recommendations before your first ride. I wore the S/M size and wear a 41 or 41.5 shoe. I'd say a size up or down from that would be just fine for the S/M. Overall take, super comfortable socks, with a great temp range, that I will wear a lot.

I have too many socks. I have too many wool socks at that. And yet, I keep getting more on the quest for warm toes to keep pedaling through colder weather. The Giordana Merino Socks are quickly climbing to the top of the power rankings in my sock drawer. They are super comfortable, stay in place well, and wick moisture well to keep your mind on the road and not cold toes.

Super comfy socks. Having the specific length measurement gives the added confidence that they will fit to the mid calf length that I was looking for. I wear a size 11.5 US or 45.5 EU and the L/XL fits perfectly. Merino wool is a requirement for good, comfortable, winter riding socks and these fit the bill completely. You wont be disappointed!

You don't even think about them while they are on, which -- in my mind -- is perfect.

    Perfect

Been wearing these under some Castelli shoe covers in 40-50F temps and loving it. These socks are tall, in fact they come up to the bottom of my knickers and completely cover the skin between my shoe covers and knickers. Perfect! Size 44.5 shoe, L/XL socks.
