    Intro to luxury.

Giordana treated its entire line to a significant revamp for 2016, and its entry-level Fusion Men's Bib Shorts received trickle-down upgrades from the brand's higher-end pieces to make them an even more valuable piece than before. If you're working with a self-sponsored cyclist's budget or are just stepping into the world of cycling, we'd highly recommend the Fusion line, which has always felt more luxurious to us than its "entry level" classification from Giordana would suggest.

Italian Lycra constitutes the leg panels of the Fusion, which gives the shorts a form-fitting, contoured fit that will maintain its shape through hours spent pedaling in the saddle. It also skillfully wicks moisture away from your skin while you ride while supporting and stabilizing the muscles of your legs with zones of compression throughout the legs, rear, and sides — not a feature we often see in so-called "entry-level" kit.

Whether you're on a shop ride or heading out to try your luck on climbs you'd never thought you'd ride a bike up, the LoPro 45 elastic leg cuffs reliably keep each leg in place without pinching or chafing. The blend of LoPro 0 elastic and 190 Mesh used along the bib straps is just as unobtrusive. The straps lie flat and disappear under a jersey, noticeable only in their ability to facilitate faster moisture transfer from your skin.

If you're worried about how you're expected to be comfortable during hours spent riding on such a slim saddle, Giordana's Cirro chamois should assuage some of your fears. Heavily influenced by its higher-end relative, the Cirro S, the Cirro uses plush, strategically-arranged cushioning to provide you with a blend of support and relief in the saddle on a flexible, moisture-wicking foam lining. Your saddle may still take some getting used to, but the Cirro will help along the way.

High-End Features But Runs Large & Long

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large

These sz. Small bibs continue to shatter the myth that Italian bibs run small (Castelli’s do, but I need an XS for Sportful). I am 5'5", 125lbs. w/ a 29” waist. Unfortunately I was able to pull these Giordana bibs on way too easily (they feel like a sz. Large in Castelli) and the chamois was drooping away from my butt, both of which don’t bode well for long days in the saddle. This is very strange given that Giordana’s sizing chart claims that a sz. Small is for a 25”-28” waist (which is further off the mark than the 31” that Castelli claims for a sz. Small except in the wrong direction for a wee person). Even more unfortunate is that Giordana does not appear to make sz. XS for consumers so I am probably outa luck in experiencing the Giordana magic (unless the FR-C fits way more snugly).

Additionally the inseam was rather long @ 10” (I have very short legs so these came down to my knee caps--a location where the leg bands fit loose like capri pant hems and where they'll be rubbing my calves while pedaling). It is true that Giordana’s listed inseam length for this model is 10” but that’s for a sz. Medium, but you’d think they’d take, say, a ½” off of this for the Small.

Too bad since these have higher-end features that you don't see on other “entry level” bibs (especially those that can often be available for under $100): the same “Cirro” chamois used on the top-end Giordana models, lay-flat bib straps that look like they’ll actually lay flat (kinda like what Assos is currently doing), and ~3” wide leg bands of a material similar to the straps (with a classy gray contrasting color and minimal silicone gripper globs on the inside).

I probably shoulda tried the supposedly snugger-fitting FR-C "5cm shorter" model instead, but I didn’t know about that bib until recently since it isn’t shown or described separately on the Competitive Cyclist website (it’s listed in the FormaRed’s size pulldown list with a mysterious “5 cm”)…oh and $250 is a little rich for my blood.

NOTE TO GIORDANA: Please make sz. XS bibs for consumers and shorten the leg lengths on smaller sizes…Esteban Chaves’ Orica team FR-C bibs look racer-tight on him and he’s my height & weighs 7lbs. less than me so he's gotta be in an XS…just sayin?

    Great bibs!

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XXL
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I'm 6"1", 200 lbs and ordered an XXL. For reference I wear XXL in Castelli and L in Pactimo. I ride at least 100 miles per week, often with a lot of climbing. These have become my go-to bibs for rides in the 30-45 mile range. I hand wash and drip dry.

    Great chamois

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 160lbs

These bibs are awesome. extremely conformable and really durable. I thought they fit just a little small for the sizing but aside from that I think theyr the best bib for the price

What is your waist size? I'm curious to see what "runs small" means vs. the sizing chart (which says a medium is for a 28-32" waist). I'm 5'5", 125lbs. with a 29" waist so the sizing chart would indicate that I should take a medium (which must be wrong because smalls in all brands other than Castelli are usually too big for me).

I also find it interesting that both you and the next reviewer are a similar weight and height, both say "runs small" yet you have a medium and the other review has an XL (maybe it's a fit preference thing?).

    Just Right

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 178lbs

I have worn these bibs almost 100 times and they still fit well and the pad still works great. Leg bands are still strong, compression even and comfortable. Very good quality with excellent pad. For the price these are hard to beat. I hand wash in cold water and drip dry with a small fan.

What is your waist size? I'm curious to see what "runs small" means vs. the sizing chart (which says an XL is for a 36-40" waist).

I also find it interesting that both you and the reviewer above are a similar weight and height, both say "runs small" yet you have an XL and the other review has a med. (maybe it's a fit preference thing?).
