    FR-C Pro Bib Short

We all have our favorite pair of bibs that we'll reserve for the hardest rides or the longest days. The FR-C Pro Bib Shorts from Giordana will quickly become your new go-to bibs with their selection of premium fabrics and outstanding fit. This creates bibs that are so supremely comfortable, they'll go unnoticed until you return to a substandard pair of shorts.

Giordana's HC50 High Compression Power Lycra is a supercharged version of Lycra that takes the previous HC-44 to another level by providing added compression with a higher thread count. HC-50’s ultra-compact knit is lighter and offers better performance benefits of higher compression rates usually found only in heavier fabrics. New leg band material expands for comfort and stability while staying perfectly in place.

We've always been proponents of Giordana's FormaRed fit, but the revised construction ups the ante even more by virtually eliminating creased and bunched fabrics throughout the pedal stroke. The top-tier Omni Form Cirro S chamois has a varying thickness with plush cushioning in critical zones, and relief where you need it most. The face fabric utilizes a Nylon microfiber that incorporates Aloe Vera permanently infused into the threads during the manufacturing process that cools and reduces odor accumulation. Underneath this layer is an expanded memory foam layer with a waffled texture that aids in breathability and moisture management by moving perspiration to the outside of the bibs for quick evaporation.

    Very good but not excellent

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Caught these during the TDF sale in mid July for a good deal. The chamois is wider than any other chamois i've ever used and its a bit thick. Why is that worth mention? if you have very narrow sit bones, it slightly bunches up between your legs and can cause a hot spot in mid crotch, even after it gets broken in, after 6 to 8, 30-50 mile rides. The bib straps are wide and have no stitching, they're very comfortable however, they are about 1 inch too short. When standing off of the bike you really notice this, when on bike and crouched over, not a big deal but I do get minor warm/red spots on top of traps where the bib straps are after 2-3 hr. rides. Fit is dead on, seemed slightly snug at first but these broke in an relaxed after 6-8 rides, give them a chance, the first 2-3 rides I was questioning my purchase.
Got size L and they are right on w/ length, waist, etc.
FYI - If you "pull" your bibs from the back, at the chamois pad stitching to move them a bit for fit, be warned, I tore both sides of the chamois pad (right & left) about 1 inch inside the stitching, between the layers of fabric. Surprisingly, the chamois didn't wad up or bunch, it stayed in place, even with a 1-2 inch tear in the chamois foam, that is in between the outer bib fabric and the inner chamois cover that's against your skin. Speaks to Giordana's quality in a good way.

Among Best In Class Based On Feature Set

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: medium exchanged for large
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 172lbs

Assos, Mille: best for relaxed fit, very comfortable, move with body best of bunch, floating chamois works well. Capo: love the material, best overall chamois, a good deal of compression, longer leg, crappy rubber gripper rings, feel warm-insulated some, Specialized SL Race: very good overall, but nothing is a specific strength, belly cut is weird. Giordana: good compression but slightly less than CAPO, Vgood fit, move nearly as good but not Assos, longer leg (preference), very lightweight feel but strong materials: Overall rating: Assos, Giordana, Capo/Spesh tie.

Better than my Assos L.Equipe bibs

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I loved my Assos and told people that it they were the best bibs that I have owned. My riding partner/bike shop owner told me that he loved his Giordana FR-Cs. I

I've put only 200 miles in them. I can't speak to the durability of these bibs, but I love the fit and the chamois. I'll wear these bibs for my longer rides now.

For starters I use the same chamois product for all my bibs. I’ve paid more for some Swiss bibs and some other Italian brands from notable competitors and been disappointed after one sub 50 mile ride. In other instances the craftsmanship wasn’t commensurate with the brand hype. What I like about the Giordana FR-C bib is that they’re comfortable regardless of intensity, duration or distance. Further, I like they’re durability when it comes to washing and frequent (daily) use. To the extent that I value comfort in the saddle I picked up another pair of the exact same bib shorts and have used them exclusively this year. From the soft wide shoulder straps and overall quality stitch work I’m 5 star pleased.

    Bravo

It's my first Giordana bib (normally I go for Assos) and I'm sure to come back for another when the time is right. Taken it on two rides so far, a short 15miles and 50 miles. Very comfortable, light, with great range of motion. The best thing about it is - you will forget about it, its that good.

I'm not overly picky about bibs but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a top quality short. The FR-C Pro bib checks all the boxes to really stand out, first being I put it on and forget about it. Like all Giordana it is a European fit, so size accordingly. But unlike several Euro brands the straps are stretchy and accomodating for us taller riders. Inseam length is fairly average, not too long or short and the leg grippers are wide and stay in place quite nicely. Going back to the straps, they are wide and lack stitching that can be irritating. The top of the shorts come up a little bit at the stomach in a stretchy waistband that's nicely supportive. The chamois works well for me and is sufficiently thick without being bulky. All around the tailoring is perfect so everything moves with your body and these are the bibs I reach for out of the 5-10 in my closet when I'm expecting a long day in the saddle.

    Another trustworthy FR-C

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Sizing: it's Italian, so go one size up. I'm US- M, so got L.

Initially, the chamois was bunching toward the middle. It took about four rides & washes to break-in this bad boy. Now it feels very good. Overall an excellent bib. Comfy straps and snug compression.
Midnight blue is sweet! It clashes a little with black jerseys, but pretty much any other color looks really good.

My only peeve- an inch more at the legs would have made it perfect. I also have the EXO bib (which has longer legs).
    I love them both!

Great bibs, enjoy them every ride

    • Fit: True to size

Purchased these bibs on sale and it was a good decision. The bibs are my go to favorites for comfort, fit and looks. Pad is very generous and comfortable for 80-120 mile rides. Material is first class, no issues after several washing and a month of wear, Also a good alternative to basic black bibs, adds some POP. .. ;-)

    The winner is

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large in both shorts
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 180lbs

Several months ago I purchased both these Giordana FR-C Pro Bib Short and the Assos T Equipe Evo Shorts. When first trying them on I liked the fit of the Assos shorts however after a number of rides I much prefer the Giordana shorts. The fabric is more compressive than the Assos which feels thin and flimsy. I am comfortable during a 30+ mile ride in the Girodana shorts while the Assos shorts are a real pain in the but before I am half way through the same ride.

    Very Impressive

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Giordana nailed it on the FR-C line. In my view, good bibs are a function of a chamois, straps, materials, and cut that you forget about when you're riding. The highest endorsement that I can give to a bib would be that I didn't notice them.

I didn't even remember that I was wearing the FR-C bibs halfway through my ride. They're just that comfortable. At first glance, the chamois looks fairly basic, but don't be fooled. It's a proprietary design that Giordana synthesized to complement their line perfectly. Despite it's basic shape, it adheres to your body flawlessly. Giordana also executed the straps well. They're firm enough to guarantee a secure hold, but they're not harsh or abrasive in any measure. The compression on the shorts is fantastically measured as well. Again, it's just enough that it does the trick without being noticeable. The materials used across the leg are also top notch. They have the same premium hand as any other top-end short, but they maintain a durable feel. I suspect that these will hold up much better in the event of a crash than some of the other bibs I've worn.

Criticisms? I think that we're seeing a move away from the mesh across the back, but the fact that it's there doesn't bother me. I'd also note than while the chamois is excellent, I still prefer Assos's offering. Size-wise, Giordana runs about a size larger than Castelli, about half a size larger than Assos, and a bit smaller than Pearl Izumi.

Giordana get's an A+ on the FR-C bibs in my book, particularly when you consider the price. Stop thinking about your bibs and focus on the ride!

One of the most comfortable I have

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 155lbs

Worn a couple of times, from 30-milers to a full century. These have been more comfortable than my usual Rapha bibs and up with there with my favorite pair from Velocio. They're compressive without being overly thick, and the wide gripper keeps them put without silicon. Note that the gripper panel is woven instead of solid, so make sure you put sunscreen on underneath it!

I've relegated these as summer bibs, as I think they're a bit too thin and breathable for cooler temps, but they're becoming my go-to for longer rides.

One of the best I’ve owned

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 210lbs

These bib shorts have been one of the most comfortable I’ve ever used. I’ve used them for hundreds of miles and have been fantastic. I’m ordering another pair soon.

    Worth Every Penny

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I enjoy a long day in the saddle and these bibs are up for the task. But don't get me wrong, they still provide a very aero/race cut feel. The chamois is perfect, providing enough padding and support without feeling like you have a diaper on. So whether your out for a fast group ride, or a long journey in the mountains, these will certainly do the trick.

    So far so good

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: small
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 130lbs

At 5'7" 130 lb the small fits nicely. The pad feels good but I have not done more than about a 40-50 mile ride on them at this point. No unraveling seams or quality issues. If they hold up I would definitely buy another pair in the future and they would rate 5 stars. I rate the pad better than Assos S7 Equipe pad but time will tell if it holds up.

    Fell apart after one ride.

Decided to try a higher end short. I usually ride Louis Garneau but the FRCs were on sale. Got my first pair and wore them with our weekly group fast training ride. 83 miles. Got home and the stitching was coming out from both sides of the chamois both inside and out. Had to be a flier as this could not be the quality of a $250 bib short. Contacted Competitive and they did a prompt exchange. Got the new pair Tues rode them on the group ride last night. Same thing. Stitching coming out from the left and right side of the chamois in and out. I'm going to try the pro light although I'm probably a fool

    Poor craftsmanship

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 150lbs

Opened the package, and noticed the stitching on the chamois was already coming apart at the seams. Not good for a $250 product. Will be returning the product. Other than this issue, an overall quality bib. Fits snug.

    Poor craftsmanship

    So damn happy!

My first ride with these was a 100mi ride on road, trail, and gravel up steep hills and down. Amazing fit, no soreness, paired with leg warmers they kept me warm (temps below 55 F). Just fantastic bibs. Also, thrilled to find some that fit a 28in waist. :D Well worth the money!

    Longer Inseam

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'9"

I am usually wear a Medium bibs, but need to go small in these. I like shorter inseams on my bibs and the mediums are a bit long for my taste. The quality and material are extremely nice and these will be great durable and comfortable bibs. Great leg compression as well keeps the inseam in place. High-end race quality shorts!

    Excellent fit and comfort

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: L
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 175lbs

Bought these in an attempt to be more comfortable on rides over 3 hours. Went on a 5 hour epic and felt great. I have tried many things but this is so good I am getting a 2nd pair

The description states the chamois is the Cirro O.F. However it appears this is the latest 2018 FR-C bib which Giordana describes as having the Cirro S. Can anyone clarify this? Thanks

I bought a pair of the 2018's elsewhere and it has the Cirro S (which I prefer). This appears to be the only significant change over the earlier versions, so you might want to call and have CC verify what they have in stock in your size/color as their inventory could be a mix of the versions. Giordana seemingly touts both the O.F and S chamois' as their "top-of-the-line", but to me the S is near perfect.
