If only we had thicker skin.

If you’re like many of us, your knees get cold the minute the mercury dips. Rather than suffering in your winter tights, the Giordana Body Clone Leg Warmers provide just enough warmth for the shoulder season.

Unlike many warmers, which are merely bulky tubes of knit fabric, the Body Clones are sewn with a variable density knit. This allows the warmers to be thicker on the areas that need more protection, such as the fronts of the knees, and thinner in others, such as the backs of your knees. This precise-fitting warmer fits snugly and securely under your shorts, or over. The knit is made of Dryarn, which is durable and insulating while being lightweight. It also helps to transfer excess moisture to the outside of your skin, keeping you dry and warm. The Body Clone warmers have only a few flatlock-stitched seams for maximum comfort.

    Super awesome.

These warmers rock! They are fairly long (they stretch a lot), but I just pull them up higher than most warmers and the knee articulation is spot on. This also allows for the use of summer bibs in cool-cold weather as they have more upper leg coverage. They are impressively warm too considering their lightweight fabric. Comfortable for me in a large range from 40-70+ degrees doing low intensity riding (in humid weather too). Probably good down to 30 in dry climates and definitely if doing higher intensity riding.

    Pretty impressive!

I picked these up via a tip from Caley Fretz on Velonews, as he stated they were his favorite leg warmers...ever. When a tech editor of a popular cycling website & mag tell you they like a piece of gear out of left field, then usually it's a good tip. Something like a frame or wheelset is so objective...but a utilitarian piece of gear like leg warmers? No doubt I'll take advice.

I waited and waited for CC to get these back in stock and didn't want to take a chance on sizing. I ordered the both, and like I said in my other comment, they actually came as either S/XS or M/L (not S/M or L/XL as listed!). I have a 32 inseam, and tried the M/L on first...immediately threw the S/XS back in the envelope and sent them back. I was semi-intimidated by the thin fabric and the un-stretched length made them appear too short. However, as soon as I put them on, they stretched out significantly, and fit like a flippin' glove. You can see the variable stretch and thickness in their "rest" mode.

It's still pretty chilly here in NC in the mornings, so I put these to the test on a number of morning rides here. I'm blown away by how warm they are based on how thin the are. They fit VERY nicely and the various patterns of the stitching are very ergnomic and functional (i.e. the knee area is like a triangle shape and it flexes perfectly). There was no bunching behind the knee, and the elastics at the top and bottom worked great. The warmers didn't move at the cuffs (top or bottom), and the low profile caused zero chaffing/saddle rub. There is ZERO windproofing, so keep that in mind. I did ride these in 45 degree weather and they were absolutely fine, as well as in 60 degree weather once it warmed up, and they were never too hot.

Really a great piece of gear.

    Quite nice

I'm in Minnesota and these have been used several times now in temperatures from the 30s to the 40s and have performed remarkably well. They do not have much in the way of wind protection, but they don't seem to need it as they keep you comfortably warm, even in the upper 30s. They also breath quite well and are very comfortable even in the upper 40s. If you just want to be comfortable and not have to wear tights, I could even see using them in the 50s. I've even had them in the rain, and they still kepts me comfortable, not dry but comfortable. They fit like a second skin and are very comfortable with virtually no chaffing.

    Unanswered Question

Heads up Competitive Cyclist. I ordered one of each to check sizing, and they come as XS/S or M/L...not S/M or L/XL as stated. Might want to update those choices...
