    Function, elevated.

Tracking nearly every aspect of your adventurous lifestyle, the Garmin Fenix 3 HR Training Watch is incredibly versatile and ingeniously smart with its GPS tracking, sport-tuned profiles, exercise physiological metrics, and Bluetooth smartphone syncing. The 1.2 inch sunlight-readable Garmin Chroma Display promotes easy reading in bright outdoor conditions, with a high-strength sapphire lens that withstands regular use and abuse. Helpful upgrades make the Fenix 3 HR Training Watch a great candidate for high-level endurance athletes training for upcoming events and outdoor enthusiasts maximizing every available opportunity for exploration and physical fitness.

Improving its signal reception, the omni-directional EXO antenna tracks both GPS and GLONASS satellites for quickly locking onto your precise location. The altimeter, barometer, and 3-axis electronic compass help you navigate through remote stretches of forest without getting lost. GPS track logging creates a "bread crumb trail" as you move across desolate stretches of wilderness, allowing you to navigate back to your starting point with the TracBack feature.

The Elevate wrist heart rate technology measures your heart rate without the use of bulky chest strap monitors. Physiological metrics crunch your resting heart rate variability to estimate exercise stress level, VO2 max, and lactate threshold. These metrics help you maximize every workout session when you're training for an upcoming race or event. Advanced running dynamics measure vertical oscillation of your running movements, ground contact time, cadence, and stride length for monitoring your running symmetry.

Custom apps and watch faces customize the watch's interface through the use of Garmin's Connect IQ store. It communicates wirelessly with your smartphone, giving you text messages, emails, and severe weather alerts when your phone is stashed away within your pack. Also, it uploads all of your data to Garmin's Connect online fitness community, as well as syncing with Garmin's Connect Mobile application.

    Great watch!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had this watch for a while now and have put through the ringer. I have went through two bands (mainly to switch up colors) and the face of the watch is still in great condition. Use on my hikes, bike rides, cardio circuits, as well as when I am out on the golf course. This watch performs as expected coming from a company like Garmin. I would recommend getting a pack of the screen protectors. I got a pack of 3 of the IQ Shield LiquidSkin protectors and over a year later I am still on my first one.

    Amazing Watch!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have definitely been looking for a watch where I can track all of the activities that I enjoy - biking, hiking, running, golfing, etc. and this watch has been an amazing upgrade from the Fitbits that I have previously had. I have always wanted a Suunto, but after reading the reviews of this watch couldn't resist. Once I started utilizing all of the features I cannot recommend more! From the track back of your hike to downloading a golf course's pin locations, this watch really does it all!

    Best Fitness Watch

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My husband loves his! In his words, "Replaced my Series 1 Apple Watch with the fenix 3 HR and I'm so much happier. The Apple Watch is nice but as a fitness tracker it's lacking in many areas - battery life, no internal GPS (been fixed in Series 2) closed system for recording fitness data, app integration was terrible, inaccurate heart rate monitor. The fenix 3 HR solves all of these problems and then some. It's a pure fitness watch that does one thing and one thing well, record data and let you see said data in a very efficient manner.

    Battery life
    Easy to use
Easy to access data about current activity
Accurate GPS and heart rate data

    It's rather large
Screen is hard to read in some light conditions, even with the backlight on"

Good for fitness, not for standalone GPS

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Fenix 3 HR is an impressive watch. If you are looking for a sports watch it is probably top of its class! If you are not using it to keep track of your fitness and utilizing it for its GPS you might want to look elsewhere.

-Very Durable- Hit it against some bricks, didn't have any scratches on sides or the face.
-HR- Heart rate monitor, is not as good as a stand alone but does good enough.
-GPS- Is accurate as far as I can tell. Keep in mind this is a GPS lite and not a full on map and navigation system.
-Additional Apps- This includes other activities that are not on the watch already, additional watch faces, and it even has games.
-Bluetooth- Message, e-mails and alerts can be read on the watch.

-Battery- With all features turned on it lasts me a week, I use the GPS for an hour every other day.
-Watch Strap- I have the standard sports strap, it is comfortable but the smooth coating started wearing off after a month.
-Memory- It does not have much storage space, keep that in mind if you want to use the watch as a stand alone GPS

Overall I like the watch, It looks great and does what I need it to. Yes it is expensive and could use some improvements, but I feel that way with just about anything I spend more then $5 on.

You get what you pay for - a lot!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was hesitant to spend this amount on a watch but the functionality replaced my TomTom and my Fitbit and added more functionality and I'm glad I took the plunge.

I've used it in triathlon mode and it accurately tracked all three events including the ocean swim. I've since purchased the heart strap bundle to get underwater heart rate data as well as more detailed running data like how long each foot contacts the ground and the delta between my right foot and left foot - pretty amazing.

Tracking in the pool is also the most accurate of other devices I've had.

Used it for hiking and trail running as well. The thermometer has been a welcome addition to see how heat impacts performance.

The build quality is excellent and built like a tank.

This is the best competitive sports watch I've owned and it covers all my general fitness needs as well with sleep tracking, step tracking, continuous heart rate monitoring and integration with MyFitnessPal. Unfortunately the integration to runkeeper isn't working but runkeeper says they are working on it. Also, great to change watch faces. I found a giant one I really like on their App Store. Also, battery life is impressive. I've gone for about 5 days before a charge and even then it was still at 50%.

My only negative experience is that I didn't know I needed to occasionally update the barometric altimeter using the GPS in the settings. I had a run at -500ft :-).

    The best purchase ever!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have had my Garmin Fenix 3 HR for over a month now. So far I have not had anything wrong with my watch. It always updates automatically without another device which I love! It also syncs to the Garmin connect app on your phone automatically which is another plus! The only time I used the chord was to charge it which is awesome because it comes with a wall charger! You can also race your past runs and upload workouts that you can do in real time! Another plus is that it can go days without charging because the GPS life is 16 hours and standby for a week! Usually most big watches do not fit my wrist, as I am a runner, but I was impressed when I put this one on because it fits perfectly with the adjustable strap! When ever I sync my run it includes info such as temperature, cadence, heart rate, and speed! Overall this was has been a great investment! ☺

    Garmin Fenix 3 HR

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Wow... I have tried the other Garmin fitness bands and found out that this fitness watch is the best. Rugged is the first thing that comes to mind and techno superior is the other. I am a cyclist and wanted a fitness band that worked with my other Garmin HR sensor and speed and cadence sensor. This unit works like a champ. No problems. Also the battery life is about 7 days with normal use. You get what you pay for and the $600 price is worth the money for this great watch and fitness tracker.

    Amazing watch

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I still love Suunto, but have appreciated Garmin GPS for a long time. This watch does it all, looks and fits great and is made and designed exactly how it should be. No complaints and I wear it every day now.

Andrew, I'm a Suunto T6 user and really appreciate what it offers, particularly the Training Effect functions, but the old-school ANT connectivity is a sucker. Does the Garmin anything to compare to the Suunto's VO2-max and TE functions?

Can you be more specific in your comparison of the Suunto vs. Garmin?

    -- Thx, Bradley

I mainly use mine for running and getting GPS coordinates. Never used the HR much either. My main things I love over the Suunto are
-the watch band is flawless. wear it constantly and the band keeper NEVER slips. Suunto, for some reason, could never do this on the core or any GPS models
-relatively low profile on the wrist
    -great display
-with constant HR function off, you get weeks easy of use, I get more than a month easily with one-three gps runs a week
    -great display
easy to access and swap watch bands if you choose to

Hopefully this helps a little at least

    Unanswered Question

I know they sell Swim and Tri versions of the HRM strap, but will this Run version of the strap still work in the pool? I'm not concerned with the additional metrics the Swim and Tri versions provide, just HR in the pool. Thanks in advance.

    Unanswered Question

The performer model is the same as what's listed on the Garmin website correct?

If so, then the added HRM - Run chest strap is a great deal at $584!

    Can't wait to get this!
