Minimist Universal Climbing Skins

G3's Minimist collection of climbing skins consists of some of the lightest, most packable skins for backcountry skiing, and the Minimist Universal Skin is the most versatile climbing skin in that collection. Its nylon material gives a greater grip for a better chance not slipping on steeper, icier surfaces, so you can rely on it whenever the snow's softer and the angle is mellower. First appearing in G3's Alpinist + skins, the carbon tip provides an uncompromisingly rigid attachment without adding much extra weight, and the camming tail strap has an adjustable strap to cinch down as the skin stretches overtime. G3 included skin savers and a trim tool to help you fit the skins to your ski's specific profile.

Not stoked

Familiarity:: I've put it through the wringer

These skins are light as can be, but it definitely comes at a price. They don't grip nearly as well as any other skins I have used (which is quite a few different kinds), the tail clips ALWAYS come off (literally every single time I ski), and the tail clip length adjuster is the most frustrating thing to use when you have cold hands. I was stoked on their weight when I got them, but it doesn't help having lightweight skins if their performance is so poor that I end up having to spend more energy keeping myself from slipping all the time, fixing my tail clips, or wearing ski crampons because I simply cannot get them to grip enough. Not stoked on them and I wish I could return them.
