    Momix, no mo' problems.

Made from a blend of mohair and nylon, the G3 Alpinist Momix Climbing Skins are the next best thing to having an escalator take you up the hill. The mohair blend is lightweight and fast gliding for the best of both worlds, and the removable Rip Strip reduces skin-to-skin adhesion for an easier pull apart. New low-profile, self-aligning stainless steel hands provide a secure and lightweight connection, while the tail connector has a pop-up feature to make removing your skins with gloves on a breeze.

    • Climbing skin mixes mohair and nylon for optimal grip and glide
    • Low-profile tip and tail connectors are glove friendly
    • Removable rip strip eases unraveling
    • Trim tool, skin savers, and skin wallet included

    Skins are skins

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Snow is variable in the backcountry, so it only makes sense that a skins performance is variable as well. I have used these in many snow conditions- pow, hard wind board, melt/freeze ice, corn, etc. and they have generally gotten the job done in all conditions, but I can't ask them to be perfect in every one because lets face it, I'm not either.

    Disappointing Glide

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These skins grip well and the G3 clip system is the best I've encountered for skins that aren't made for a specific ski. After about 20 days of use I have had no issues with the glue. All of this is great but for mohair/nylon mix they have pretty terrible glide. At first I thought that they just needed some time to break in but I've after 20 days of use I have not seen any significant improvement. I own a pair of the Black Diamond Glidelite skins that are 65% mohair and 35% nylon for my other skis and have found that they grip just as well as the MoMix but glide significantly better and pack down smaller. I got these because they are much easier to trim but now regret my decision.

Summary: buy the Black Diamond Glidelite over these but spend the extra 5 bucks to get the G3 trim tool.

    Wow, skins that actually glide

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Love these skins. I have used them in mid-winter in the Wasatch and they have wonderful glide (as compared to 100% nylon) and can climb well too. I will never go back to nylon skins!

    Wonderful skins!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really like these skins. They glide about 20-30% better than standard nylon skins. The grip is not as good but I find with slightly better technique I am doing just fine. I have purchased another pair of these skins for a different ski I like them so much.
