What differentiates this fork from previous Float 36's is its inclusion of EVOL technology into its air spring that's borrowed from its rear shocks. Essentially, it increases the volume of the negative air spring providing greater sensitivity to small bumps off the top of its stroke. By reducing the initial breakaway force need to start its travel, you end up with a more sensitive fork that is better able to absorb the trail and the air spring feels more coil-like. The fork ships with volume spacers installed plus extras to tune the air spring to your bike setup, weight, terrain, and riding style.

The impressively stiff 36-millimeter stanchions resist torsional flexion so your bike will track better through high-speed rock gardens, harsh g-outs, and popping into and out of berms. As part of the Factory Series, these stanchions employ FOX's Kashima coating for reduced friction and silky-smooth sensitivity to small bumps, as well as just looking really trick and boosting durability.

The newer Fit4 damper uses a slightly revised tune with a reconfigured shim stack helping to improve its sensitivity to trail chatter and small bumps. This design offers more control over the damping so you can set it up with more progression to prevent bottoming out while still utilizing its full travel. This Fit4 damper has 3-position adjustability giving you the option of running it in the Open, Medium, or Firm setting. In Open mode, you'll find 22 clicks of low-speed compression tuning, which helps prevent dive under heavy braking and allows the fork to ride higher in its travel preserving your bikes intended geometry. Medium gives you a bit more platform for more pedaling efficiency on smoother trails and long climbs where a firmer front end is welcome. Firm is practically a lock-out for when you're grinding up the fire roads to get to the goods or pavement stretches to and from the trailhead.
