Fox Racing's Ripley Women's Shorts are designed to bring the same level of performance to the lady’s off-road clothing while still maintaining a large degree of comfort and good looks. Based roughly on the Men’s Ranger Short, the Ripley is made from a two-way stretch polyester material. They provide a free-movement feeling, which is so important when pedaling, but will hold its form so that you won’t be dealing with bagged out backsides to get caught on your seat. Nor will you look out of place sitting at a café post-ride. To keep you cushioned while in the saddle, Fox has given the Ripley a detachable liner with its women’s-specific insert. You’ll find this insert effective and yet unobtrusive both on and off the bike. And since it is entirely detachable, you can use it in a variety of shorts and knickers.

Where lady’s shorts often fall short of comfort is the waistband. It needs to be secure enough that we’re not having any ill-advised exposure in the back, but it can’t be severe enough that it cuts uncomfortably into the stomach. That’s where the Ripley interior adjustable waistband really comes into its own. Since it is an interior adjustable band, you won’t have to deal with the scrunched up elastic waistband look, but you will be able to adjust the fit discretely from the inside, ensuring you’ll always feel comfy whether you are flying down a trail or standing in line for your coffee. And to keep a hold of your keys and coffee change, there is a low profile zippered pocket in the mid-back section. It won’t get in the way of any hydration or back pack you might use, but it will make it possible for you to carry along a couple of small essentials directly with you.

    Great Shorts!

This item was given as a gift but I was provided feedback. The do fit a little snug in the legs, so sizing up is recommended, particularly if you like loose fitting riding shorts. The material is light and breathable. The liner is good quality, especially for the price. Comfy, easy to move in, simple shorts.

      Comfortable enough

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

These shorts work, but the sizing on the Ripley short seems to vary from one year to the next. The previous model year of these run quite a bit larger in the legs, while these maintain the same waist, but have a kind of snug thigh.
They work well for XC riding, and are nice and lightweight, though they could definitely use another pocket other than the one zip pocket on the back. I suppose that's pretty typical for an XC short though, so if you're looking for something really minimalist, these would be a good option.

      See-through

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'9"
      • Weight: 135lbs

I loved the color and fit of these shorts but you can see the liner through the rear. I tried a different pair of chamois shorts under the shorts and I could still see them through the shorts. Such a bummer because I loved everything else about the shorts.

      Nice, but runs big...

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Height: 5'8"
      • Weight: 125lbs

Great and easy shorts to throw on and off!
Nice feel to them, they just run really big!

      Comfortable Trail Shorts, somewhat slim

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Height: 5'3"
      • Weight: 135lbs

Bought this shorts in Miami Green for my girlfriend ... she and all her riding mates loved them! Had to place a second order for two of her friends. Nice and comfortable for the warm weather here in Puerto Rico. True to size but a little slimmer fit than other two Fox Shorts she has. Soft and stretch fabric that does not restrict movement at all. Got the Fox Ripley Jersey Short Sleeve - Women's as well for the perfect match and is equally comfortable.

      Stylish Fit

      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: medium
      • Height: 5'6"
      • Weight: 150lbs

I love these shorts. Just the right amount of stretch and they have sleek fit to them. I wear size 6 pants and they fit good. If I was any bigger I would go up to a size large.

      Great Gift

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

I got these shorts for my wife. She is new to mountain biking and loves these shorts. He mountain bike clothing collection is growing, but these are her go-to!

      Runs small

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Medium
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 155lbs

I wear a medium and have worn a lot of different brands. I understand fitted, but these were definitely smalls. But, some biking clothing does run small - Pear Izumi for example. I liked the fabric and the styling.

      Runs tighter than typical baggies

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs small

I have a few pairs of Fox shorts for women, and usually wear a size Small. However, these shorts felt tighter and slimmer than I prefer my baggies to be for riding so I returned them. Would recommend to keep that in mind if you're thinking of purchasing. I didn't think a medium would fit much different other than the waist which would be too large.

      Nice shorts but runs big

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: Med.
      • Height: 5'7"
      • Weight: 130lbs

I like the shorts, would have been great for Mountain Biking, however the sizing was way off. they run large so order a size smaller.

      Feels Like Nothing's There

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'7"
      • Weight: 135lbs

Love these shorts! The material is so nice and cool it feels like you're not even wearing pants. I happen to like the slim fit, they do ride up a little bit but are not uncomfortable. I originally purchased a size M worried about the legs being too small but the waist was so big they wouldn't stay up so I exchanged for a S and they fit perfectly. I would say they are more of a low rise cut but still have plenty of coverage. Plus the Miami Green color is fab.
Only reasons I don't give them 5 stars are because the liner is just OK (I will probably use my other liners for my next long ride) and there is only one pocket and it happens to be so small you can't even use it for anything besides maybe a single car key?

      Skinny MTB Shorts?

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'10"
      • Weight: 135lbs

Got these for my girlfriend who says she has a previous fox shorts in smalls and she couldn't get the shorts to fit on her quads. She said the material was awesome and the waist and liner fit great. The tapered leg end holes were too tight and there was not enough give in the material. Not sure if sizing up will fix the issue...

      Slim Fit

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Bought these for my girlfriend and she loves them. They are a baggy style short but they fit slim on the legs. She does wish there were more pockets because the back zip pocket is very small. The Chamois that these shorts come with are not very comfortable. She cut it out and uses a different chamois under the shorts.

      According to Wife

      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: Med
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 90lbs

They are super comfortable allow for long intense biking without the lower part of your body hurting. They don't bunch up and are not super tight.

      Not for the "thicker" gals

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large
      • Height: 5'3"
      • Weight: 150lbs

The material for these shorts is great. They have some stretch and seem very durable. The drawback for me is the fit. They are slim fit and come up well below the waist. Essentially, with my thicker legs and fanny (all muscle! lol), the fit is odd and I feel like I'll end up with a plumber's crack while riding. The liner/pad is ok, albeit a little thick for my liking. No chafing for me, though. I wear a size 8/10 pants and the size large just fit me, but will rely on the stretchy material as I ride.

Shorts are good, liner is just OK.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I like the cut and fit of these shorts. They aren't too long or baggy. The Chamois (liner) fits different in both pairs I own and they are a bit tight around the waist. Over all for the price I would recommend them for sure.

Shorts are good, liner is just OK.
