    A Nice Lilac Shell

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

This jacket was ultimately exchanged for something else. It's stylish but the material is relatively stiff, and the way the wrist gators are sewn made them feel a little tight and bulky when worn with a glove. It might have been that a larger size was needed.

    Love my new shell

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just wore this for the first time, for lift-area skiing. It felt stiff going on, but once it was on, it was (almost) completely comfortable - moved with me, nice soft cuff liners, stayed down, kept me warm in the lift and summit winds. My only comfort quibble is that when I had it completely zipped up, the collar irritated my chin. Only other quibble is that the pit zips were difficult to re-zip by myself once opened. Lilac color is great - different and pleasant. Pockets are useful and well-placed. Hope to use this for the next decade - seems very well-made.

Best Jacket for Skiing & Snowboarding

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

I love this jacket!! I used it last season and can't wait to take it out again. I got the Tropical Red color, which I would describe as more pink than red, but I love it. Keeps me dry, lets me breath, works well with layers (base, mid, and/or lightweight down) or alone. Allows me to move freely on the mountain and it looks great!

    Skiing dry and warm!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    • Size Bought: Small

This is my first ski shell that I have purchased and so far I am impressed! I have never owned FlyLow gear before, but had heard great things and wanted to find a shell that I could wear over a puffy or alone on warmer days this season. I purchased this jacket with the Foxy Bibs and am stoked on both! I was a little worried about fitting a lightweight down jacket underneath a Small shell, but I have been able to layer that, a mid layer, and a base layer underneath just fine. I have worn this jacket resort skiing and touring and the pit-zips worked great for temperature control. This jacket does not have a powder skirt, but if you have bibs that is no problem!

    Love this.

I really love the fit and feel of this shell. It is heavier than what I was riding with last year and that keeps me a lot drier and warmer. So all good things. I got the lilac color, I do think it is a bit of a bolder purple than the color pictured, but better than the picture so thats all good.

great jacket - comfy, nice looking

A very well made jacket. The outer and inner pockets are generously sized - spacious enough for a large phone. The inner mesh (non-stretch) pockets are located behind the hand pockets with slightly smaller dimensions. The jacket is cut slightly contoured at the waist and larger in the hips then other jackets by FlyLow. I can stuff the pockets and the jacket still fits over a down layer plus a fleece jacket.
Tropical red is a nice rose/orange. Very visible but not ski patrol red like the 50 other red jackets on the hill.

Great for skiing in the PNW

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS

I bought this jacket because I needed a light-weight shell to layer with. I've used it for a couple of months at Mt. Baker in the sun, rain, and snow. It's light enough to wear in warm weather, but still keeps me warm in 30 degrees with a fleece layered underneath.

    Love it, color off

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Having received this coat I think it is extremely well made, functional, and yes very flattering and cool, for the price. I really want to keep it but I don't think I will because the color is very different than what I saw on my computer screen, phone and ipad before ordering. It is bright orange. I expected it to be sort of a "cape cod" faded red, perhaps a true red, or even pink. Unfortunately it is very deep orange, the perfect jacket to wear to San Francisco giant's games with the black accents or on Halloween. So sad the color is off.... Wish there were more color options for an exchange. I bought it for March skiing in the Sierras and I think it is a very good shell to layer with if one is skiing hard and trying to keep dry.

    Great ski jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

loved this jacket for skiing. fit was perfect even with insulating layer underneath. if its really cold, you'll want to add another layer. electric blue and got lots of compliments. sometimes small is too small for me but fit was perfect.

    Awesome Jacket for Skiing

This is a great shell. It fits really well and moves really well. Even with a baselayer and fleece underneath to stay warm on extra cold days it didn't feel restrictive, and I ordered my regular size which is a small. The one thing I kinda don't like about the jacket is the wrist gaiters, its just not ideal when you are wearing extra layers under the jacket. But I still would recommend this jacket and am happy I bought it.

    Awesome coat!

I love this coat! I wasn't sure how warm it'd keep me since it really just seems like a shell. I wore it on a 20-something degree ski day at the resort with a Patagonia R1 Hoody and kept warm all day! On a colder day, I paired it with a lightweight down jacket underneath and it was perfect! I love the fit and color of the deep teal is gorgeous!

    Tropical Red is actually pink.

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS

I would have given it 5 stars if the tropical red color wasn't actually a salmon pink. Other than that I love it! I'm 5'2'' 118lbs and ordered both the S and XS. The XS was perfect to wear by itself or layer a poofy vest underneath. The S was way too large for my liking. The awesome gear specialist at Backcountry helped me decide on this jacket- I wanted something for skiing, hiking, and around town in the rain. This seems like it will work well for all of that- I especially love the wrist gators and the snaps inside the jacket to hook to ski pants. Unfortunately I'll be returning it because I really had my heart set on a red jacket.

    Awesome jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I love this jacket! I got it for touring, xc skiing, and downhill. It is super waterproof and breathable and is obviously really well made. The fabric is very soft, has some stretch, and isn't noisy. I am 5'6 120ibs and the small fit great...still room for layering but not too big either. I put a light puffy underneath for colder days...definitely recommend!

    Great coat!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I had been looking for a hard shell for a long time and finally stumbled upon this one. I LOVE it! I've only worn it a few times, but it has kept me very warm and dry! I'm 5'2, 110lb and bought the olive in a S. I generally buy an XS in most jackets though. There's definitely room to layer underneath, the brushed inside is very soft so it's comfortable even against bare skin. I love the sleeve extensions with thumb holes! The hood is huge, but will fit well over a helmet or just keep you nice and dry when it's really coming down! The sleeves are a little long but I like that 'cause then I can slide them over my gloves for skiing. The torso is also a bit on the longer side, but I like it because then it covers my butt. Overall, great jacket. I would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a new shell!

Nice Shell. Didn't keep it though

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size

Nice shell. Jacket has wrist gators built into the sleeve. This is not written about in the description. I find the gators make it difficult to layer under the shell. If I a known about the gators I wouldn't have ordered the jacket. Ended up returning the jacket because of this. Also the zipper on the olive jacket is pink (fushia). It looks orange in the photo.

Nicely made shell, but boxy fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Size Bought: Medium

This is really a gorgeous shell, but the fit was really weird on me. I'm 5'9" and wear a 38C and a solid 10 pants with a belt usually. On me, the medium bulged around the waist but didn't sit where it was supposed to on my hips (even without adding ski pants). Would've sized up, but knew the waist would just get bigger, and the M shoulders and sleeves were perfect. Color was awesome (denim) and it just felt really high quality all around. If you have narrower hips, this is a great coat.

    Perfect resort jacket

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium

I typically wear a size medium (5'8", 140lbs) and felt the jacket fit perfectly with enough length to keep me warm and perfect length sleeves to tuck over or under gloves. I ski in the east and always fit a down jacket underneath and always feel warm, there is even room to add a fleece layer on particularly cold days. The details on the jacket are awesome - it t zips up over your face nicely and has a really soft interior fabric so it keeps my cheeks warm! The sleeves have a portion that extends to let you slip your thumb in to put under gloves.

I always get compliments on how nice it looks just walking around town. The zipper on the olive jacket is pink - the picture looks a bit more orange.

    Wish it fit...

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

I ordered this jacket in the Seafoam color in a Small.

    I am 5'8 120 lbs and generally wear a size 0/2 or Xs/S

The Vixen is extremely well made and technical for a soft shell. The taped zippers are great - something I wish more women's ski jackets had. The colors are so fun, and I LOVED the seafoam color I ordered. Unfortunately this jacket was too small.

I typically wear an XSmall or Small in ski jackets, and ordered a Small in the Vixen so I could layer underneath (as it has no insulation). I was super bummed when this jacket was too small, and a Medium was unavailable. Even with no layers underneath, the Small size was awkwardly short when paired with ski pants. When I put a light down layer on under (my layer of choice on cold ski days), the Vixen was instantly too restricting through the shoulders.

I wish this jacket had fit how I wanted it to, but it just didn't do it for me. If you are shorter (I'm a little taller) this jacket would probably fit great, but if you are taller, I'd recommend sizing up.
