Trousers are amazing! Sizing is frustrating.

I love these pants - they are so well constructed and I can tell they are going to last me a LONG time. I'm dropping a star because trying to get a pair that fit well has been a consistent pain. This time, I was able to get to the store in Toronto and the staff there were amazing in helping be find the right pair. For a point of comparison, I will buy a 36x34 pant pretty much everywhere else I buy pants. There are minor variances, but it's usually always the same size and a decision about whether I get slim or regular fit. With Fjallraven? Well - I get that sizing is different. My first pair was the equivalent of a 37" waist (54), and they're too tight. I have high coast light pants in the 56 size, and they're a bit big. I picked up Keb trousers in the same size, and they're perfect. These Vidda Pros? The 56 felt like a 54 - too tight. So I went up a size - something I expected based on other reviews. I needed a 58 to get the same fit as the slightly baggy 56 on the high cost light. Except the inseam is a problem now. Way too long - regular fit was too short, these are too long. They'll likely be fine with hiking boots. But come on! More predictable sizing would be great.

Outstanding

In a world of mediocrity this brand stands out as a truly high quality product. Thank you.

Fjallin’ in love with my Fjallraven

Comfortable rugged pants. A brand you can trust. I’m 6’2” and 200lbs, the 34” length is perfect.

Liked them so much I bought two!

They are the highest quality and best-fitting pants I’ve ever owned, period. It’s always a challenge for me to find pants with a 29” waist / 34” length. The Vidda Pro’s G-1000 material is perfect for Vancouver, BC’s wet winters. Add the ventilation; you have four-season versatility.

Warning to bushcrafters

If you were to look for a review of these pants on the Internet, you will find them being touted as great bushcrafting pants, which they ARE NOT! I do own a pair, so this is based on a first hand experience. My guess is, because these pants have "knife" pockets and an ax loop, this is though to be a "bushcrafty" features. However, these features on their own do nothing, because the front/thigh pockets are in such a weird position (because of the ventilation zips), you cannot put anything in them. I mean, you can force something in them, but if it is thicker than a modern smartphone - your movement will be severely restricted (and even painful at times)! So what is the point of those pockets then? Someone somewhere "labeled" thigh pockets "map pockets" and that is actually quite accurate, because anything thicker then a piece of paper and a compass (hiking compass, not a military one) will not fit there. Then there is a "knife" pocket. What is it for - I do not know, but it will not accommodate any bushrafting knife in a leather sheath. Maybe something smaller, like Fallkniven F1 in a pastick sheath? But come on, who chooses a survival/bushcrafting knife based on whether it fits in the pocket. The company correctly labels these pants as "trekking trousers", because that is what they are. They are good to walk around in, not much more. Don't get me wrong, the G-1000 material is great. Quality (I mean stitching and such) of the product is superb! If you need a pair of pants to go on a pick-nick or to walk your dog in a park - go for it. However, if you expect to load your pockets with some essential gear and go out into the woods to practice some bushcraft - these trousers are not for you.

Best of the best!

Purchased two pair and just returned from a hard two week elk hunt in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. We tent camped on the mountain in 5 degree weather. These pants were amazing, fit like a glove and never got in the way or bunched up. I didn't know about the boot lace hook on the cuff until I found it on day 3 of the trip, it essentially turns them into gaiters, amazing. These pants kept me dry while laying in snow melting muddy rocky muck and made me wish I had a similarly designed jacket (why I'm on the website now). What little mud was on them when I stood up wiped completely off with a handful of snow and looked brand new and my wool base layer was completely dry. We pushed through countless miles of oak-brush and Junipers which did a number on my jacket but didn't phase my pants for a second. I must have looked down to access the damage from the oak-brush and rock scrapes two dozen times before I started too realize there wouldn't be any. I am overly impressed with the quality and like I said before I'm on a knew hunt to find a jacket here, unfortunately, there out of stock in my size. But it will be worth the wait. If your questioning the price tag, Don't.

You'll never regret it.

These pants are the most comfortable, durable, piece of clothing I've ever owned. I now own 3 pairs and they're basically all I wear. Torture tested with work, rock scaling, high angle slope stabilization, hunting, hiking, you name it, they hold up. Replace jeans and lounger pants. So great to find a product that is built to last and is till tuned to comfort. Im a lifetime customer for sure.

Proportions are off

I think the design and quality of the product are great, however, the proportions are off. If that weren't the case, it would really be an excellent product. Compared to the Keb or Abisko trousers or Greenland jeans, these just don't fit me right. There is something off in terms of the proportion between the waist band, crotch, and knee. The articulated knees hits a little too low for me, so every step is a fight against the fabric, which would unnecessarily sap your energy. To remedy this, I had to hike them up by pulling on the pockets to raise the legs of the trousers higher in order to lift my leg so the knee articulation is in the right spot. Or, I have to pull the waistband up over my belly button so the knee articulation hits at my actual knee, but then that makes the crotch too high. I don't know if I just got a pair that was off, or if they are all the same, however, I returned the pair, unfortunately. I'm sad about that since I was looking forward to the thicker fabric for winter. So I guess the rise (the distance between the waistband and crotch) is too long, and the distance between the knee and the crotch is also not right. I'm 6'0", 145 lbs., and wear 46 Long in Fjallraven trousers.

Functional and great fit

I am 6'5" 200 pounds and these fit great. Just the right length. I punished these in the desert and they held up to rock scrambling, yucca barbs, water crossings, and constant abrasion against boulders. Unfortunately I lost them on my first time out with them as they had to be cut off my body when I was chopped to the hospital. When the chopper RN left, she said with a wink, "I'm glad you made it, sweetheart, and sorry about having to cut off your Fjallravens." Things can be replaced, but my life can't, so I'm happy to save up for another pair!
