Three years ago I bought my first pair, green and black. Second pair was last year, grey and black. Third pair was last month, black on black. Great pants. Hiking and camping, early spring/late fall backpacking, yard work, bar, wood shop, etc. are just about everywhere I wear these pants. Exceptionally comfortable after a very short “break in” period. Use the Fjallraven wax on the knees, rear end, and up to about 8-12 inches from the bottom cuff, depending on if you just walk through puddles or if you jump in them like a human that is actually living right. Wax the front above the knees if you’re planning to be out in the rain/snow. Speaking of the wax, it’s a breeze to apply. I use a Wagner heat gun on the low setting to melt the wax. You probably could make them “waterproof” by applying multiple coats all over, but they certainly won’t breathe well. Wear GoreTex (or whatever your favorite brand is) for prolonged severe weather, or go inside, Also, the wax is not required in order for the pants to function as pants. After 3 years the first pair looks brand new. Same with the second pair. No issues at all with durability. I’ve crashed a mountain bike a few times in these, knelt on rocks, dirt, concrete, you name it. No holes, no tears, almost no fading, they literally look new. Size reference: I am 6’1” tall and purchased the “LONG” version in each pair of pants. I typically buy jeans with a 34” inseam. Waist is a little different. First 2 pairs I weighed 180-195lbs and bought the “50” waist. Fit was good, just a little loose. Jean size at the time was 33-34 in Levi’s and Ariats. Third pair I got the “48” as I am back down to 160lbs. This pair by far fits the best around the waist. Tape measure just below the hip bone currently 35 inches if that helps for reference. I really do love these pants and wear them any chance I get. The only reason for purchasing the third pair was to be able to wear them for work every now and again. Sure would be rad if Fjallraven had other “solid” colors available. If that were the case I’d likely give up jeans for good. These pants are honestly that comfortable and durable. With all the pockets these would be a good option for some trades men and women. But then again, there are no pockets in the rear, so think before you buy. For some folks that can be a dealbreaker. $160 is a lot for pants. Based on the longevity alone I believe they are worth it. For me, they are comfortable and easily capable of performing the tasks I require of them. Hopefully they work out for you as well. Cheers

I've been trying for yearrrsss to get some fjallraven pants to fit me, but the euro sizing just seems to be off for me. I ordered size 32 (48 EU) and they were just too tight on the waist and hip area, so mobility would be terrible and just not work. Tried the 33-34 (50 EU) first, but Fjallraven's jump from 48 to 50 is just way too big of a size increase. Waists ends up too big, same with butt and thighs. As others have said, the pants are built pretty bomber it seems like, but the EU sizing just doesn't work for me. They need a size in-between their 48 and 50. For reference, my sizing: waist (@ belly button) @ 33-34in hips @ 40-41in quad @ 23-24in lower quad/above knee @ 20in

... and still no pocket for my wallet. I wish I could disappear into the Swedish wilderness for weeks, where an ax sees more use than my wallet. Unfortunately I hike in the Northeast where carrying an ax is generally frowned upon (leave no trace !) and where I find myself often reaching for my wallet ... only to remember that it's in some odd, unusual stash pocket. So, a rear hip pocket would be nice. In other terms: they are great pants. I used them for hiking and bushwhacking and after a few weeks they still look almost like new. The fabric is nice and soft yet sturdy. Impregnating it with Greenland wax makes them pretty water resistant, so they do well in a sprinkle or light rain. Heavy, sustained downpours - maybe not. I used Fjallraven's size finder (on their website) and the fit turned out pretty good.

I am into my second pair of these pants. The Vidda Pros have served well, in Alaska (the wild un-Homer side of Katchemak Bay), in the Wind River Range, and in Southern Utah. They are unbelievable tough, yet comfortable at the same time. I have noticed that over time they simply get more comfortable. Which is great, because they are very comfortable out of the box. I have experimented with the Greenland Wax, which is Fjallraven's product for waterproofing G1000 fabric. It is super easy to apply (rub onto the surface). I have used a blow dryer, and it immediately melts in. I mentioned bushcraft, because they literally are good in damp alders, that required machetes to clear (away from a cabin, not destruction for destruction's sake, mind you). I will add that they breath as good as one would expect for tough durable material. If you want to backpack for tens of miles at a clip, these would do it, if conditions demanded it. I love the cuffs at the ankle, which really eliminate the need for gaitors in the heavier stuff. I have snow shoed with these pants as well. And they are great - even when the tails flick snow onto the backs of your legs, they are sufficiently water resistant even without that wax. Plus they just kind of look cool. Different than other stuff that is out there. The go-to pants, especially for winter and the shoulder seasons.

I live these pants, my all time favorites though I’ve only owned them for a short while. I’m a little nervous about washing them, and rewaxing them, but I may buy a couple more pairs. Fit is great, gives/stretches ever so slightly. Best pants ever, good for outdoors, nice enough looking to wear to dinner for most occasions, for me. Best ever.

I love the look feel and functionality of these pants! They would have gotten a 5 if they have fit me. In fact they do deserve a 5 so I just changed it. Having said that if you have a freakishly long in seam of 36" or more these will not fit you. I still wear them out camping but only with boots so they don't look like super highwater pants.

Nick, (I'm 6'5" too) check out the Fjallraven Barents Pro trousers, they're virtually the same pant but come un-hemmed. A couple other Fjallraven pants do as well -- they'll fit with length to spare

Best money ever spent
I purchased these for hiking and less than perfect weather and I love them! I go to school in New York and they repel the gusts, the rain, snow, and what ever Mother Nature throws at me. They are great for winter in the mountains in Montana and Colorado, wax them a little and BOOM everything stays out! Highly recommend.

When they say "long" they actually do mean a longer inseam, which is amazing given that I am well over six feet and always on the hunt for that outdoor pant that actually fits all the way down to my boot tops. You can't find that in any other brand. Take it from me and my 38" inseam.

Loved them at first
Ordered these pants specifically for a Backpacking trip in northern Montana. I was really happy with the fit after following the sizing guide provided by Fjallraven. I wanted this to be a 5 Star review but It canât. Fit form and function were perfect, however I would have expected them to hold up to 3 days backpacking (brand new) a little better. I have ended up with a hole in the ankle of one of the legs (assuming from brush) and a large hole in the seat of the pants somehow. Now I have brand new pants for $150 with holes in the butt and ankle.

After using these for outdoor adventures I will not be using any other brand. This was my first Fjallraven purchase, I was looking for pants that would take a beating but also keep me cool. The material is strong but it is also breathable which is a plus because I overheat very easily. I like the double material over the areas that see more movement or abrasion. The amount of pockets are amazing, I am able to carry all that I need AND the design makes it look slim. The only issue I had was ordering the size. I wear a 36 inch waist in pants but I had to order the 40 inch waist for these pants because the thighs were too small. At the bottom of the legs they even have buttons that allow you to tighten the cuff around your boots, but looking at them you do not notice it.

Yet again, a great product from Fjallraven. The durability of these is not in question at all. I have beat mine up and they are still showing to signs of wearing down at all. I do have big thighs, so the front pockets are a bit tight getting my hands into and there aren't any back pockets, but the multiple cargo pockets solves both of those issues. I would highly recommend these pants if you're looking for a burly pair of trousers.

Size wise these things are great. I have long legs for my waist (35" inseam) and they fit perfect, and move well. The pockets are exceptional, now I miss not-having them on other pants. They're rugged as hell, and can do a day in the field (construction work) and follow it into the office for a meeting. I wouldn't prefer to climb in them (they make stretchy pants for that) but one could. The belt tabs lay flat so are pretty comfortable under a pack waistbelt. I'm amazed at how unfazed the fabric is after hard work with abrasive materials. Noting: the Fjalraven "Barents Pro Trouser" is pretty much the same pant, with an unhemmed (so even longer) inseam; and the "Barents Pro Pant" is the jeans cut version (sans cargo pockets), also unhemmed/longer. Equally awesome, and the BPP can be worn a bit dressy (or not). ...Not hot weather pants, this G1000 fabric

I bought these pants for my boyfriend, it is now his go-to everyday pants for pretty much everything adventure and travel, and it looks damn good on him. The only complaint he has is the waterproof-ability. A day riding in the rain and he's soaked. A simple spill though, and he's dry. He loves the pockets and stores pretty much his life inside his pants.

Hey Rob, the fit across Fjallraven's line should be very similar. They are a Euro fit brand so they tend to fit a bit more slim than other brands that use an American fit model. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out to me directly via the information listed above.

Updating this review--After using these pants during the hunting season, they are really good for blocking the wind, yet even better for walking through briars and thorns. The thorns grab some but seem to tear away easy and not rip or damage the pants. Great value and worth the cost!
