Almost there

I purchased the splitpack Large for a few upcoming trips where I didn't want to check a bag. I recently just used it for a 4 day trip to Portland and could fit everything in it just fine. It was a little heavy to carry throughout the airport though. It would be better if there were hip straps to help with the weight on your shoulders. I was hoping to use this on a trip to Europe at the end of the month but I'm afraid it will be too heavy to carry that far with more stuff packed. It did fit perfectly fine in the over head bin on American Airlines. My husband said he will use it for the Europe trip because he doesn't pack as much as I do.

My husband bought these for us in an effort to avoid checked bags for international travel. We’ve successfully used these for 2 weeks trips to Costa Rica, Norway, and Africa and we LOVE them. Glad I bought this bag!

I bought the Travel Pack Small (20L) - Black for a vacation. My vacation was a week long and I don't like checking in bags for flights; I had this backpack as my "personal item" carry-on and an additional roller carry-on for the overhead bin. The backpack fits under the economy airplane seat easily with room above if on its back. However, it is a little cumbersome to pull it out and take something out during the flight since my seat had little leg room. I was nervous that the full sized version of this bag (35 litres) wouldn't fit under the airplane seat, so I settled for this smaller size. The overall outside design itself is pleasing to look at, it looks like a step up from a casual backpack. I packed my liquids baggie in the top left zipper pocket since I am able to access it from outside the backpack as well in case I needed to take it out during security check or for quick access. There's also a thin zippered compartment within that side. I packed my electronic tablet in its [bulky] case in the bottom, left zipper pocket since the laptop sleeve (see 2nd product picture above) was too narrow for it. I did, however, put my cords, external battery, and a book in the laptop sleeve compartment. I kept my sunglasses and boarding pass in the convenient top zippered compartment that's near the top handle. I packed a set of pajamas, scarf, hairdryer, and a purse in the larger, right side zippered packing side. The backpack straps are thick and comfortable even with a fully packed backpack. The outside zippers are big enough for a padlock if needed; I did not use one, but I do like the size & shape of the zippers. The bag overall feels sturdy and look forward to using it on more trips. There are some minor cons that I personally don't consider significant enough to deduct a star for. The outer fabric is soft, so it does attract lint/debris, but easy enough to brush off. I wish it had a luggage strap at the back, so that I can put it on my roller luggage. The larger pack (35L) also has a side handle, but the small version (20L) does not. If you needed something out of the bottom of the zippered sections, you most likely have to completely unzipper the entire backpack, fold it out & open, and unzipper the inner pocket to get to your item which may be inconvenient especially in a narrow airplane seat as mentioned above or at the airport.

Good for travel. The back pack straps make it easy to carry and the way the bag has two sides makes for easy organization. The 35L is pretty small......for a weekend maybe. I was hoping I could use it as a gym bag but the material is too thick and better for travel.

Best travel bagpack ever

I was given one as a gift 2 years ago and now I have bought one for my dad because I left it for him on a trip and he loved it. It is just the right size for a 2 week or weekend trip. Sturdy and comfortable material.

Great bag 35 litre.

Bought this bag for a carry on plane luggage. It’s great! Can pack enough clothes for three days easy. The people at the airport think it’s just a backpack so you could pair this with a piece of carry in luggage and not have to check a bag! Also the 35 litre pack fit under the plane seat fully loaded.

Six cities in 12 days Japan bound!

I’m leaving for my trip next month already purchased a nice large roller luggage last year waiting for my Japan trip. My daughter purchased this split duffle several years ago. This is her go to travel bag. I decided to get one the more I thought rolling that large luggage on and off the train traveling through Japan hitting 6 cities I thought I would give the duffle a try. I love the color (dark olive) the size is sufficient (55L) I am excited to try this bag out! When it arrived two days ago I started packing.

Perfect 3-4 day travel carry-on

I love this bag! The size is perfect. I packed my running shoes, Chocos, three pairs of pants, three shirts, a raincoat, toiletries and undies with room to spare! I easily moved through the airport carrying it as a backpack and it slides so easy in to the airplane overhead bin! The zippered separation is awesome too, the outside zipper is high quality.

So good we now own two and travel matching.

I bought the first one for my wife and watched her pack it for an upcoming week long trip. Watching her cram so much in such a tiny bag sold me, I made it 24 hours before buying one for myself. This bag is nuts. shove a weeks worth of clothes in then realize you still have room for sneakers, and a jacket, and then realize you still have room for snacks, then you realize you have room still and give up on trying to FILL it so you can just check it on the way home with I kid you not 40lbs of beer to share with friends! This was the best bag I have ever brought on a trip!

Was very hesitant at first

Was very hesitant to purchase this bag and kept going back and forth for a good 4-6 months. In the end, I pulled the trigger and very pleased with the decision. I use the gear bag large to provide further organization inside (3 of them fit perfectly on either side). I didn't think I would like it in "backpack mode" that much but has proven to be very comfortable. I even think I'd get a larger one if Fjallraven offered it. Highly recommend!
