    Skogso Jacket

Shoulder season hiking, rainy days spent fishing, and cool weather walks around town are all in a day's work for the Fjallraven Men's Skogso Jacket. Made with Fjallraven's G-1000 fabric, this jacket is treated with a water-resistant Greenland wax coating (sold separately) that can be removed or reapplied through a simple application process. The jacket uses a lighter version of the fabric throughout the body for a lighter feel that performs well in warmer temperatures, but as not to compromise durability, the jacket is reinforced at the shoulders and arms, so you hike with ease knowing the jacket won't tear easily. Pre-shaped elbows give the jacket an ergonomic fit, and the adjustable cuffs and hem help to seal in heat when things start to get chilly.

    • Traditional waxed jacket styled with rainy hikes in mind
    • G-1000 shoulders and hood defend against downpours
    • G-1000 Lite body betters breathability where it counts
    • Adjustments at hood, hem, and cuffs ensure secure coverage
    • Item #FJR003V

    My New Favorite Jacket

    Familiarity:I've used it several times
    Fit:True to size
    Size BoughtMedium
    Height6` 0"
    Weight130 lbs

I purchased my first Fjallraven product when I visited Sweden a couple years ago. I loved it. That's why I decided to give this jacket a shot. It is well worth the money. At 6 feet tall and 130 lbs. I have a very hard time finding clothes that fit me well. When I wear a small the sleeves are too short, when I wear a medium it engulfs me. Not with this Jacket! I ordered a medium and it fits me perfectly. It isn't baggy at all, and the sleeves are nice and long. I have worn the jacket almost every day since I got it. The boss told me she liked my jacket, and asked "what's a Fjallraven?". Forgot my umbrella yesterday, and there was a heavy downpour at lunch. No problem! This jacket was able to shed off all the water (although it was a pretty short walk through the parking lot). My pants, socks, and shoes all got soaked through, but my shirt stayed dry, and all I had to do was shake the water beads off of the jacket. 5/5 jacket easy. It is pretty thin however. I wore it over a t-shirt while walking the dogs the other morning (45 degrees F) and it was a bit chilly at first. I might buy the padded version as well for when it starts getting even colder out.

Perfect Jacket (This is a Sizing Review)

    Familiarity:I've used it several times
    Fit:True to size
    Size BoughtMedium
    Height5` 6"
    Weight163 lbs

The hardest part was getting the sizing right. I couldn't find an accurate review no matter how many hundreds of reviews I read, so I decided to put this up for people that are looking for sizing answers. I'm about 5'6" - 5'7", 163lbs, athletic build, about a 38"-39" chest and a 33/34" waist (small belly). I initially purchased the small and the fit was almost TOO perfect. I was able to layer a long sleeve base layer + a down jacket and it was a little snug. My litmus test was acting like I was hugging a tree and the jacket felt a little limited on range of movement around the seems of the arms (the length of the sleeves were okay, but the longer sleeves ended up definitely being better...read below); also, the chest size was a tad small, as well; the space in the arms, however, was great. The jacket does run slimmer in the torso than most brands in the States. I'm always between sizes on pretty much everything so I decided to give a size Medium a shot and returned the Small. Medium was perfect. The arm length was not an issue. A lot of people on reviews seemed to say it was an issue but when you clasp the buttons on the sleeves, you can't tell that it runs long... in fact, it looks exactly the same as a small (arm length wise). Using the same "tree hug" test, there was much more space and since the sleeves were about 1" longer than the Small, the sleeves didn't slide up at all... so in hindsight it's actually more convenient to have a longer sleeve than shorter, especially if you expect to raise your hands at any point higher than your shoulder - especially with a backpack (i.e. if your backpack has a hip belt and you raise your arms, we all know the dreaded feeling of the jacket sliding up! But with the Medium, this was not an issue since your sleeves have more space to give, which essentially eliminates the problem of you having to pull down the jacket every time you raise your hands). The arms were again, perfect... the spacing in them was not substantially larger than the small. Where the difference was noticeable was the sizing throughout the torso. There was much more space to the point where I could layer a base layer t-shirt, long sleeve, north face FLEECE (think Denali), and light down jacket without the jacket bursting (I could even put a Medium size Kuhl rain jacket on TOP of the Fjallraven jacket WITH all the layers on, which shows how the slimming/larger fit actually compliments each other). The great part is that if you just wear the jacket by itself without any layers, it doesn't look boxy or big... it still has a very nice look. All in all, I think it's safe to say that the sleeves are minimally longer than a smaller size but the biggest difference is in the torso. If you want to layer and use the jacket in the winter (i.e. winter camping/backpacking), then purchase the same size that you would purchase in the states (i.e. if you wear medium, buy a medium...if small, buy a small). I hope this helps!

    Awesome unique jacket

Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    Fit:True to size
    Size BoughtL
    Height6` 3"
    Weight190 lbs

I gave this jacket to my brother as a gift, and he loves it. He especially likes the G1000 material and how it repels water amazingly but is also breathable and wind resistant. The jacket feels really durable overall and I think it will easily last him years. He's tall and pretty thin (6'3" 190lbs) so I was a bit worried about the fit, but a Large fits him perfectly - it's nice and long in the arms and about perfect in the body. If you don't have long arms or aren't tall, you should probably size down with this jacket. Apart from the function, which is great, this jacket also looks really slick. It's honestly perfect in any weather but a torrential downpour, and you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion. An amazingly versatile jacket that looks good and will last a long time.

    Great jacket.

    Familiarity:I've used it several times
    Fit:Runs large
    Size BoughtMedium
    Height5` 10"
    Weight175 lbs

I recently got this jacket and love it. It's tough and stylish and I'm wearing it everyday. It's not waterproof, but I didn't expect it to be. I'm trying to decide what I want to do about waxing it, but I think for the winter I'll leave it unwaxed. That said, it does a good job with the wind, while still being breathable. I'm mostly using it for general hanging out and commuting on my bike to work daily. So far I've worn it on 60 degrees days by itself, and this morning it was 25 degrees and I had a sweater and a softshell underneath and it was comfortable and not sweaty. I plan on wearing it through the winter, and adjusting my layers as it gets cooler. The fit runs a bit large, I'm 5'10", 175, athletic build, and I'm often a large, but a medium fits me with room for a sweater and light down coat underneath. The arms are a bit long, but I've been folding them over once or fastening them when I'm just hanging out, and unrolling them when I'm biking and the length is perfect so that my wrists don't get cold. The hood is great and I love the g1000 fabric, it's quiet, relatively soft and I can wear it without looking to sporty.

    Depends on intent

Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

Don't expect this jacket to keep you dry. I have added the Greenland Wax about five times and have found that it sheds water for the first storm but after wearing the jacket and working the wax into the fabric, water will saturate through. In snowy conditions, the snow tends to melt and then soak in. Despite this, I use the jacket daily in a shipyard in New England. It is a tough, well designed, and comfortable fitting (I'm 5'10" and weigh 165 wearing a large with room for layers). I crawl under boats on gravel and pavement and don't worry about it tearing. I like the G-1000 material because I can use metal grinders and don't worry about the sparks melting the material. It will shed light mists and will break the wind, but if you're outside too long in these conditions, you will eventually get wet. The hood is well designed and the pockets are excellently placed. It has a nice high collar to keep the wind off of your face. Overall, it is a very tough, extremely well designed jacket for checking the surf and getting to the pub in a light rain but I would never take it into the backcountry.

Your rating seems misleading since you're critical of the jacket for something that it isn't intended to do. G-1000 garments are not designed to keep you dry. I can vouch that G-1000 is a great choice for week+ backcountry trips in cold, windy, and rainy conditions such as the Aleutian Islands provided that your other layers are 100% wool.

doe this jacket have any padding or layer or is it a shell only version?

Hey Rob, this jacket is just the G1000 fabric there is no interior insulation just a shell. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out via the information listed above.
