Great jacket, functionally and fashionably.

Purchased this for my girlfriend and so far it's been awesome! All of the drawstring functions lock in your body heat and keep you warm, and dry. It's not a rain coat, but so far we've yet to notice any water getting through the top layer of the jacket. It's about time to wash it up and re-spray with DWR to keep it doing well for another decade (or more) hopefully!

My Forever Coat.

I have completed my first (of I hope many winters) with this coat and I can say it is a fabulous coat. Kept me warm in all winter weather. It takes a bit of getting used to after wearing lighter puffy coats but it’s weight soon started to feel like a warm security blanket. The big pockets are amazing as nothing falls out of them. The cut is generous on top but a bit tighter through the hips. My only improvement would make the cut a bit wider at the bottom. I am 5’8” and 143 lbs and a medium fits perfectly with room for layers on top but only just right around the hips.

Capable Coat!

I live in Canada and a cold climate during winter months and we get a good amount of snow. I find this coat very warm and durable. I wanted a coat to keep me warm walking my dogs and this definitely does the job! It is comfortable, roomy and has big pockets. I find the length is a little bit long for me as when I squat down it restricts me a little but the zipper does open upwards so there is some room. I am 5’4” and hits mid thigh. Otherwise I love it and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a warm and capable winter coat.

Did I just buy heaven?

By far the sturdy and comfortable jacket I have ever purchased. It fits true to size and feels a bit like it’s hugging you while you wear it. If you’re considering buying it, do yourself a favor and get it now!

Best winter coat I've ever had!

This is hands down the best winter coat I’ve ever owned. It’s incredibly well made, and feels as such. It was worth every penny! I’m sad there aren’t many reviews on this wonderful coat. I hope I can help someone make a decision with mine. I saw some complaints on some other Fjallraven coats on this website and others. Most complaints centered around coat length, arm length, fit, water resistant, weight and warmth. I’ll go into my opinions here, but I just want to first say one thing: you’re investing money into a Fjallraven coat because it’s quality, because it’s warm, because it fits well, and because it’s practical. I really do love the way this coat looks on me, but you shouldn’t be buying this for a fashion statement. Do this and you’ll love your purchase! Weight- Is it heavy? Nah. It’s a WINTER COAT with a durable outer fabric and lining. Yes it’s going to be heavier than your spring/fall jacket. Is it needlessly heavy? No, I don’t even notice the difference in weight between this one and my old North Face triclimate jacket. In fact, I think because it fits so well, I’m not even thinking about weight. I mean, this is a coat meant for walking and casual activity, you aren’t going to be running in it, so why do you need it to be so light anyways? Water resistant- it works fine in wet conditions. Is it a rain coat? No, don't buy it if that’s what you’re looking for. But if you are going to walk to your car in the rain or go for a short walk, this is fine. The water beads on the coat without soaking the fabric, and it dries quickly once you’re in a warm car. Fit-I am around 5’ 3” and weigh around 135 pounds. The medium fit perfectly. Does it fit big/baggy? Of course it does, why do you want a tight winter coat? I can comfortably wear a thick sweater underneath without it feeling bulky- a problem I’ve had with every other coat I’ve owned. And I am COMFORTABLE. I’ve never had a coat where I enjoyed wearing it and look forward to wearing it. It’s comfortable standing, comfortable sitting, and comfortable when walking. To me, a comfortable looking fit of a coat looks better than any fashion item. Don't size down, and wear it around first before declaring it looks too baggy on you. I really think it should feel great rather than look form fitting. If you're looking for a form fitting, less practical coat, look elsewhere. Warmth- I live in PA, and am on the thinner side weight-wise. This coat is adequately warm for 20 degree weather. The thing is, you don’t want to be so hot that you are sweating. I am super comfortable wearing only a short sleeve shirt underneath in 20 degree weather. The only part of me that is ever cold is my exposed knees. The only time I have ever felt hot was at the end of a long grocery trip while I’m bagging my own groceries. Sleeve length- YES the sleeves are long. I have average-length arms. When I stand, the sleeves reach the middle knuckles of my fingers, and at first I thought they were too long. But you know what? This isn’t an issue. The cuffs have this soft wool flannel on the inside, and the length keeps my hands really warm during a walk with a light pair of gloves on. I don’t even need pockets. And when I’m driving, the cuffs move down my hands to a good position. Now if the sleeves go past your hands...I understand. But the sleeves are perfect in my opinion. Length of coat- it’s long! The back almost hits the back of my knees. I really love how the front is shorter than the back. I’m a church musician, and wanted a long coat to completely cover my dresses as well as keep me warm in the building during winter. I do wish there was a cord to tighten the hem line for really cold days where I’m taking a long walk. But other than that, the length is great! Pockets- I love how I don’t need to carry a purse anymore! The front pockets are HUGE. I fit my wallet in one with plenty of room to spare. I once carried ten Christmas cards in a front pocket. I love the chest pockets, they're incredibly roomy with a tiny pouch-like pocket for my keys. And if you thought you couldn’t need more...the inside pockets are huge as well. Now, there aren’t comfortable hand pockets. The bucket front pockets are awkward to put your hands in, and since they are so low, they do get cold. BUT, if you see my sleeve length comment, I don’t find I need hand pockets. I don’t miss them at all and have been wearing this coat for a month. Hood- hands down the best hood I’ve ever had on a coat. Thick, solid, and keeps its shape when up. I love the soft flannel lining.
