A durable and stylish jacket for any adventure.

Whether you're hiking to the top of a mountain or down to your favorite cafe, the Fjallraven Men's Sarek Trekking Jacket will give you the protection you need to get where you're going, all while looking good. For waterproofing, the jacket is made with Fjallraven's G-1000 fabric, which uses a Greenland wax treatment (sold separately). The wax can either be removed or reapplied through a simple application process making this jacket versatile for both mountain and around town wear. The Sarek is adjustable at the cuffs, waist, and hem, and it's fitted with a three-way adjustable hood.

Perfect trekking jacket for cold and wet

In cold, wet, windy conditions, sometimes you're better off trying to stay comfortable and warm instead of dry. I'm thinking arctic anywhere, Iceland, Scandinavia, Southwest Alaska, Tierra del Fuego, etc. I used this jacket on a week trek around Adak Island and a ten day trek-ski trip around Unalaska Island. The Aleutians hold up to their reputation of being cold, wet, and windy. This jacket, waxed, with 100% wool layers underneath is perfect for sub-polar maritime climates. It won't keep you dry. To be fair though, I would have stayed equally wet in gore-tex while also being more clammy and uncomfortable (I know because I've compared the two approaches in this type of environment). When the rain stops, this jacket lets enough air through, even waxed, to dry you out quickly. Numerous pockets are a huge plus, the hood is extended to keep wind off your face, and the fabric is extremely rugged. The ability to adjust the amount of wax in the fabric makes it very versatile. It's one of the few trekking jackets that is long enough to cover to upper thigh. Plus, it looks cool. Highly recommend, though if you're not in a sub-polar maritime or arctic climate, it might not suit you.
