Toasty warm

Love, love, love this jacket. I am that girl who is always freezing, especially if it's windy I don't stand a chance. Well this jacket has been a lifesaver, got me through -20F weather with no problem, it blocks the wind and moisture. The pockets at mid level, that are fleece lined, are a blessing. I did a lot of research before buying this coat and I don't regret it. Now it may not be as form fitting as one might want but honestly when you are warm in dead of winter, who cares. Also it has a million pockets, after 2 winters I still keep finding new ones.

Very Warm + Great Feature Details

I really love this coat and all the small features that make it so nice. I love all the pockets, it actually fits a 1L water bottle. I love the little fleece details in the hood, at your face, and in the hand pockets. It’s very warm, and I can choose to layer (or not) and still be warm. I kept my normal size small due to my  broader shoulders and wanting it to be able to wear a sweater without my shoulders feeling restricted. It definitely is boxy, but I don’t pick coats based on that, but all the other features  like staying warm. I really like how big the hood is, it actually fits  both my head and a ski helmet, which is nice. I also love the  length of the coat and how it’s slightly longer than my waist.  I appreciate the double zipper, when I get into the car I’ll  unzip the bottom a touch so it’s looser which makes any tightness  when sitting down go away.

Runs Large

Wear it for the for the first time today and it’s soft and feels great on me. Warm and windproof and waterproof. I love the fleece in the pockets. It runs large. I am 157cm and 65kg, according to size chart I needed M or L. I ordered M and it was very big. I returned it and ordered S and it’s perfect while still has space for layering

Great parka! Love the design and pockets!!

I bought the Nuuk Parka in fall 2021 and have been wearing it for two full winters in northern Canada. Here is why I am giving it a 4 stars: * Material, design, and practicality=5 stars: I love the way it is made, the very high quality material, the hood, the style, and especially the many, large pockets that can fit ALL my birding gear! It's one of the best parkas I've ever owned, I've been enjoying it for 2 winters and will continue to enjoy it on milder winter days. * Warmth: 3 stars: Unfortunately, I wish I had known that this parka is ideal for temperatures between -10°C to -15°C but not for low activity level on colder days. If you live where winters are no extremely cold, it's the perfect parka and I highly recommend it. However, for northern Canada, I find that the warmth and insulation is not enough. It is perfect for -10°C to -15°C days, and may be ok for -20°C if you're moving and wear layers under it. I live where it is regularly between -25°C and -40°C and after wearing it in these frigid temperatures for 2 years, I find that even with many layers, including a down hoodie and a windbreaker shell, it is not quite insulated enough to keep me warm in anything colder than -17°C on the trails. Overall, it's an amazingly well made parka. Sizing: it is made large. I am 5'1", and 125 lbs. I usually wear S to M in jackets but the Nuuk XS is large enough on me for comfortably wearing many layers underneath.

Not Suitable for Cold Winter

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
medium
Height:
5' 5"
Weight:
120

I have this jacket and bought it for its heaviness which I thought would provide warmth. The company skimped on insulation in the arms and either the company's brand of synthetic insulation isn't adequate or there isn't enough of it, but this is not a warm coat, despite its appearance. Definitely size down. Parka is designed for a tall woman. If only average height, 5'4" - 5'7", pockets will be too low. Sleeves are long if average height, but I like that for warmth below the wrist. Has a nice look, not urban chic but appealing for outdoors enthusiast. Sturdy fabric. Took away 2 stars because for the price, could buy 2 coats and have warmth. Will need something heavy underneath to be warm in winter.

I miss the old Kanye

I miss the old version! I purchased this jacket back in 2019 and I loved it so much and the only reason I ended up returning it is because I couldn’t afford it at that time. Fast forward to now and I’m able to afford it but this new and improved version is not really my cup of tea. I hate hate hate hate hate how the drawstring at the waist only draws in the inside of the jacket and not the outside so it is accentuates my waist at the front but the back of the jacket sticks out and looks frumpy and makes me look super wide and for someone that it’s already really tall and curvy. It’s not a good look . The jacket also seems a lot lighter which can be good but it also seems less warm as well. I liked the weightiness of the old version. The fit is also different whereas the old version had a smarter fit and looked more fashionable. This one looks pretty frumpy. Debating on returning it and hunting down the old version Secondhand or something. A plus though is that it is super warm is it as warm as the old one I don’t know but it’s super warm and versatile with the millions of pockets and the fact that it’s waterproof and can have several layers underneath because the arms of the jacket are not super skinny Like other parkas

I survive Yellowknife in this parka

I visited Yellowknife during March 2023, and saw the northern light. With proper layering, this parker kept me warm in the -30 and more degree celsius bitter cold. Don't forget to invest in a good pair of boots too though.

Warm, comfortable, rooomy

I purchased this parka to volunteer on the trail at the CanAm Crown 250-mile sled dog race this past weekend. Temps ranged from 30-degrees down to -14 degrees. This parka kept me warm the entire time. The hood is nice and big so it fit right over my hat. The parka had plenty of room for layers underneath. Overall, perfect and I have zero complaints.

Money well spent!

I only discovered the Fjallraven brand recently when a local weather forecaster was wearing a jacket with the fox logo and I got curious and did some digging. I owe him a thank-you note! This parka is a game changer. I no longer dread the late night walks with the dog in the cold. My new Nuuk parka keeps me cozy even when the temperature is in the teens and the wind is blowing. I admit that I hesitated to spend that kind of money on a coat but I'm so glad I did. I read a lot of reviews on various sites before placing my order. There were a few reviews that mentioned trouble with the zipper, that the neck was too tight when the zipper was all the way up, and that the sleeves are too long. I have had absolutely no trouble with the zipper and I don't find the neck to be tight at all, even when wearing a fleece scarf under the coat. I find the sleeve length to be perfect but I can see that they might be too long for a more petite person (I'm 5'8" tall and my arms are a bit on the long side). The coat is certainly heavier than a down coat, but I love the way it feels. All those pockets are great! I also like the length of the coat and the coverage it provides. I removed the faux fur around the hood but even without that there is plenty of depth to shield my face from wind or rain. I did find that my mittens/gloves didn't work well with the sleeves, neither fitting over the sleeve nor inside the sleeve. I found some excellent mittens, called under mittens by Burton, that have a narrow cuff that's meant to fit inside the sleeve and they are perfect! I opted to purchase the large size (in the Port color). It is a bit roomy on me and I could probably wear the medium size, but I like that it is roomy and not constricting. I haven't even cinched the waist to make it more fitted because it's so comfortable as it is. It's not an inexpensive parka, but it's beautifully made with great attention to details and I'm not going to grow out of it. I expect that I'll be wearing and enjoying it for many years to come!
