Beefed up for hardcore hikes and lengthy treks.

Tough enough to bushwack through gnarly brush and thick vegetation, the Fjallraven Keb Gaiter Trouser excels at trekking, climbing, and backpacking with its zip-off legs that double as removable gaiters with lock-down cinch cords. This technical trouser features stretch fabric throughout, giving you plenty of mobility when you're walking through steep, craggy terrain. Adding durability, G-1000 fabric is strategically placed at the rear, front of the legs, and over the knees to resist wear and tear. In addition, the trouser's leg endings have G-1000 Heavy Duty reinforcement, protecting the hems from ripping and fraying.

Loaded with performance features, these trekking trousers have knee-to-hip vents on the outer leg, allowing you to cool down after you've worked up a sweat. The trouser's waist and high hand pockets won't inhibit climbing performance, allowing you to comfortably fit a climbing harness and access zipped-away items without breaking a sweat. Pre-shaped knees and rear quarters are beefed up with extra-strong seams that won't burst when you bust a climbing move or high-step over a trailside impediment.

Stylish but hopeless in the rain

I bought two pairs- look great, excellent sizing and lots of pockets. But when it comes to rain, they simply cannot handle anything more than drizzling. I believed in their “water-resistance” eco-friendly material and paid a price in recent hike where we encountered not a downpour but just some light rain. I was soaked from the waist down.

      My Favorite Backpacking Pants

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: EU46
      • Height: 6'1"
      • Weight: 155lbs

I first purchased EU48 and they were way to large for my 32" waist, so exchanged for EU46 and they fit perfectly now. I have a 32" inseam and the Reg length is an exact fit. The pants are very well made and reinforced in all the right places. As another reviewer mentioned, the stretch fabric is not as durable as the G-1000, but that shouldn't be an issue unless your crawling through the briar patch. The stretch fabric gives great range of motion and good ventilation, as do the thigh vents. Maybe not appropriate for super hot weather, but definitely comfortable into the 80's. Overall, I'm very pleased and am expecting these pants to last me through many years of backcountry adventures.

      Pricey but very nice..

Have been wanting to try these pants but the price has always deterred me. A 20% discount from BC did the trick. Sturdy, strong, nicely constructed, good fit in length, compared to a lot of over priced big name gear - size runs a bit big so for myself suspenders work nicely. I liked these pants so much I shopped around a bit and found a 40% discount from another on line retailer and got another pair. One down side to these pants is they do not have rear (wallet) pockets, I'm still trying to get used to having to put my wallet in the front flap pocket.. hey Fjallraven rear pockets please! Other than that good job!

Great Pants, Great Deal, Great Service

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Hey all, I found a great deal on here like 50% off and ordered. The pants came in are great. They actually fit every so slightly big but not enough to worry about. I get what other people say about them feeling like they're slipping down when their not. It just takes a minute to get used to. The construction looks really solid and I'm sure they'll be a lot of fun in the woods. That said, I was pleasantly surprised when Backcountry personnel called just to let me know the order was on the way and then followed up to boot. Great service. I think you may REI might have a run for it's money!

      Possibly the Best Pants

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 50
      • Height: 6'0"

I love these pants. They stretch in all the right places, yet are durable in all the right places too. I have put them to the test numerous times and have not ever had any issues with them. Even when it was 80 degrees up in the Tetons, I still had these pants as my go to's. They have a side vent zippers, which is not often found on pants like this, so that makes thee an easy pick on just about any adventure. Especially with having the option to unzip the pants and turn them into shorts, AND not having to worry about packing extra weight for gaiters since they're already built in! I would that they are almost perfect, but there is still one cautionary about them and one tweak I would like to see. The thing to be aware of is that having the synthetic stretch in the back, always makes me feel as though my pants are slipping down and the moon is about to come out. After a couple of days of wearing them, I got used to this knowing that they are still right where I need them to be, for everyone else's sake. The one tweak I would like to see on these is a back pocket. The front cargo pockets are great and allow for plenty of pocket space, but I just like storing things in my back pockets (gloves, keys, etc).

The fit on Fjallraven can be a bit tricky, and I did find that these seemed to have stretched out after a couple wears, but nothing too much to need a size down at all. Feel free to reach directly out to me with any questions on these pants or anything else on the site!

I made them look like a dirty rags

... just in one year. Probably should wash them, right? Naaah, it's warmer like that.
      These are great bombproof pants!

      No Joke.

      • Weight: 215lbs

Stretches in all the right places. Tough in all the right places.
With that being said, the different material can make your pants feel like they are sagging when they are not. No big deal. Just weird at first.
They also came a tiny bit long. I decided not to have them hemmed. I'm glad I didn't. If you make them too perfect, I don't believe the gaiters will function as nicely. The extra length prevents the pants pulling too much on my laces when stepping over downed trees and hiking uphill.

I love all the storage and that the pockets are low profile (not floppy) and in the front for easy access.
I also love the zippers for ventilation. I prefer to do winter hikes, but sweat makes me too cold. The ventilation helps me regulate my temperature easily.

I used them on a winter hike last year(first time with these), and I hit snow drifts above my knees at times. The gaitor clips stayed secure and no snow got into my shoes. So, while these are a heavier pair of pants, they can eliminate the need for gaiters; so the weight can even out and it is one less thing to pack.
These pants can also be waxed. I waxed one leg and decided to leave the other. I didn't need the wax. World's easiest, literal side by side comparison.
I could go on and on. These are the ultimate utility pants. I wear them to work and in my wood shop in addition to me outdoor activities. They are comfortable year round, but I wouldn't hike in them in warmer temps. I want the option without the gaiters for everyday use (saving up).

Pros: warm in winter, breathable in spring, comfortable, stretchy, rugged, ventilation, forgoes gaiters, extremely functional
Cons: takes some getting used to (e.g. Material, length), sorta heavy, gaiter clips might be to rough on thin laces (e.g. Salomon quick laces)

      very disapointed

these pants look great but ripped in the crotch area when i sat down to eat my dinner i called backcountry to see if they would cover them under there warranty and they said know so i called fjallraven and still waiting on a callback from them to see if they would cover them. so i just gave up in wasting my time to try to get some one to fix them so i just took them to the tailor and paid to get them fixed. and they need too put zippers on the cuffs so when you take the shorts off you dont have to take your boots off to take them off if you put some zippers on the side you could just slip them off

      Exactly what I wanted

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: EU48 Long
      • Height: 6'
      • Weight: 175lbs

I originally bought these pants for use while coaching rowing during the fall/spring seasons and for hiking/climbing. I wanted something that would handle the abuse of moving boats, motors, and equipment around while still providing some protection from splashes of water and the occasional rain storm AND work well on backpacking. Initially I was looking at waterproof technical shells, but those quickly exceeded my price range and wouldn't have been very useful outside of cold, wet days or winter activities. Although I was initially hesitant to purchase something that wasn't completely waterproof these pants turned out to be perfect for what I needed.

-design is top notch. Pants are super comfy while moving due to the use of the stretch material in select areas while still having the tough G-1000 fabric in the areas that need it. The pockets are great and can be water resistant enough to protect phone/wallet. Zip off gaiters mean more venting and the pants can double as shorts. They are very compatible with a climbing harness as said in description. The various cinches and gaiter hooks are great for wet bushwhacking.
-venting: two side thigh vents, gaiter zips at knee, and a fly allow for plenty of venting while trekking uphill and zippers are high quality.
-material: G-1000 is wonderfully durable and can be treated with greenland wax to become very water repellent. The G-1000 is in all the areas you would want it and that helps shed water and wear nicely. I was initially worried about the durability of the stretch fabric but it has held up great and is very fast drying once wet so it hasn't been a problem.
fit: I think it makes my rear end look pretty good without pockets to interrupt the view. The legs fit athletically so I think they are pretty flattering. Legs run a little long but that is a good thing if you use the boot hook. I initially considered having mine hemmed, but i am glad I didn't.

-Part of me would still thinks the stretch fabric will wear out far before the G-1000. It just doesn't have the same heavy feel of the G-1000.
-the stretch fabric feels weird when you wear a belt because the pants hang from your hips and kinda float which sometimes makes it feel like your pants are sagging because the G-1000 butt reinforcement is what you feel, not the waist of the pants.
-the boot hook and cinch mechanism are somewhat uncomfortable if you aren't wearing shoes so these pants aren't for lounging around camp.

Overall: These pants are good looking (IMO), functional, and durable. They are as good of a choice for trekking and climbing as they are for coaching practice on the river. I am very happy with my purchase and would buy again. After having these pants I am considering the matching Keb jacket to go along with them.

      Awesome fit

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: eu 48
      • Height: 6'0"
      • Weight: 165lbs

I know the sizing of fjallraven clothes have been a big question for people. I am 6'0" and 165 lbs. I have a 32 inch waist. I wear the EU 48 and they fit perfectly. So now on the good stuff. I have worn these pants on multiple outings, in both warm and cool weather. They are great, very durable. The zips on the sides allow for great ventilation when you get warm. I can't speak highly enough about these pants. Spend the money ( or wait for a sale ) but either way you will not be dissappointed.

      Must have!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large

I have been using these pants as a rugged hiking/hunting pant and have found them to be durable, versatile, and most of all super comfortable. They have a lot of great features (side vents, gaitor clips, etc.) without being too complicated. I did say they run big, but that is just because the only inseam they make is a 34 and I'm normally a 30-32. The gaitor clips and rivets for an under foot strap make the extra length not so noticeable. Did I mention that the G-1000 material is bomb proof? I will definitely be looking into some of Fjallraven's other G-1000 products.

Send any trousers into fjallraven's New York headquarters. They will hem them.

With the Gaiter version, be sure to have them hem from the zipper on the gaiter portion of the pants instead of the cuff. This way, you don't lose the cinch cord, gaiter grommets or the lace hook.

In this process, they remove the zipper, cut up to a few inches if necessary and then reattach the zipper. I had 2 inches cut and my Keb gaiter trousers look brand new factory. They in no way look as if they were altered or messed with. I will post a review and some picks shortly.
