Kanken 17in Laptop Backpack

Laptop size misconception

I just ordered this laptop because it can hold a 17 inch laptop. All of the negative reviews I’ve read about it not being able to hold a 17 inch laptop reference dimensions that are L x W, which calculate to 19 inches in diagonal! That is the dimension that should be considered when thinking this bag should hold a 17 inch unit. All screen sizes are specified by diagonal, including televisions, I don’t think the company is at fault here Unfortunately, there’s no other way I can comment on this common misconception I’ve seen In these reviews. Fingers crossed that my 17 inch diagonal laptop fits properly because everything else about this backpack seems ideal for my needs..

Amazing

I have been using this backpack since 8th grade and I actually love it! I went on a field trip, (hiking) and we walked a lot and my backpack was still going strong! I also noticed it fixes my posture!

My favorite product from the brand

Funny story is.... I ordered 15 incher, but they accidentally sent me 17 incher. I am very glad for that mistake. I paid discount price at the time too! I own many products by the brand, but their kankens are what got me into them to begin with. I have grown to realize kanken classics are so overrated and I am not a fan despite owning 2 kanken classics, from the POV of a programmer + student in IT school. But this version of the kanken is superb. Meets all my needs and then some! It is the best backpack I had in my entire life, I could not have lived satisfyingly without it. I am way too in love with it. So spacious. I use this for my IT school as a programmer that carries around sometimes up to 2 thinkpads. I love the additional pocket inside they added. They redesigned the kanken for modern times. Their 750ml fjallraven waterbottle fits very well into the side pockets (finally), my umbrella fits like it did in kanken classic, but has enough space for me to also shove a sports drink plastic bottle too in the same side pocket, or those cheap juices you drink out from and throw out. The side pockets are so amazing, exactly what was needed. The kanken badly needed that upgrade. The front pocket is so spacious and amazing, I pack my snacks, it fits many many snack options. Inside the main compartment, I pack my lunch, sunscreen and many lady things (sorted seperately into 3 different zipper cotton bags), my beanie hat and scarf fits, along chargers for phone and laptop, deo, tissues, band aids, etc. It leaves the main compartment still 50% free, for any extra stuff I might get in school, or when I buy more food while I am still on school grounds. I also carry a lunchbox too with food from home. Hair brush comes with me as well. Earphones, sometimes I pack a headset, etc. In the small pocket in the main compartment I packed glasses cleaner, backup chargers, a small powerbank, pens, pencils. In the main compartment's large sleeve, where the grey foamy pad lays, I packed also a barf bag in case I ever get sick, and a notepad . In the back, laptop compartment, my 14 inch thinkpad fits just fine, with its oversized laptop sleeve that is very thick. The water resistence of this backpack is good enough, combined with good safe placement of laptop, combined with water resistence laptop sleeve....I feel very safe for once in my life that even if there is a downpoor, my laptop won't be wrecked. I also feel safe since here's umbrella side pockets. For maximum paranoia, I plan to buy fjallraven's backpack cover if they have the right size, if not, find any other brand. I am a paranoid person who always fears their laptop might get ruined by rain, so I am very grateful that the design and ergonomics of this product keeps my computer 100% safe. This is a must buy for any programmer or person attending school where they take notes on laptops. This also makes an amazing travel bag when I wanna visit my friend for an entire week and go to hackerspace with. I will never again go back to another backpack, ever again. I plan to use this for the rest of my life. For work on the daily too once I graduate. Might buy their kanken 15 incher one day so I have one for school, one for hackerspace/travel with friends on the weekends. MUST have for computer lovers. It's removed all the hurtles and hassles I have been struggling with for years.

Bought backpack for my daughter in 6th grade and there are tears and fading.

Great for everyday use!

I bought this a month ago and I have been using it almost everyday.  I love how versatile it is— I use it for work and on even on weekends.  I love that it is durable, water-resistant and cleans easily.

Amazing Backpack

I bought this bag over a year ago and it is still holding strong. The zippers work very well and don't come off, the straps are comfortable, and the material is holding up magnificently!

Incorrect specs

The laptop dimensions are incorrect, the 17" does NOT fit a 40x27x3 Dell laptop. Pretty poor from Fjallraven they can't measure the laptop space correctly.

Very spacious

I bought this backpack for work and it has been amazing! It fits two 14" MacBook Pros, lunch box, water bottle, headphones, notebook, pencil pouch, and personal care pouch. If I wanted, it could also comfortably fit a sweater. Great for commuters like myself :)

5 Star Backpack

Lightweight holds shape just enough pockets- not so many that I am looking for an item for 10 minutes opening 20 pockets!

Magic!

I know so many ppl with this backpack that I am a bit surprised none of them told me it makes stuff feel lighter! I put all the same things in this backpack that I put in my old one and yet my shoulders do not hurt after my commute! It’s like magic! I highly recommend this bag!
