Keep your G-1000 fabrics water resistant with the Fjallraven Greenland Wax Travel Pack. When prepping for a trip, rub the wax along the garment then melt it into the fabric using an iron. When you need to retreat garments in the field, a camp stove can be used to impregnate the fabric.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Don't use this like you would wax your skis... I started with a heavy hand, and waxed part of my Fjallraven Keb Touring Trousers like my skis, to say the least, they are going to be very waterproof for a long time.

I recommend rubbing the wax into the area you want to waterproof then if you have a ski iron, use that on low heat to melt the wax into the g1000 material. You can apply a lighter or heavier waxing depending on how waterproof/breathable you want that area to be!

    Use a Light Touch

I used the Fjallraven Greenland Wax to add some water resistance to my Raven Jacket. I found that the wax melted into the jacket best if i applied with light to medium pressure. When I rubbed the wax on with a heavy enough hand to leave white streaks on the fabric, the wax did not melt into the fabric as evenly as I would have liked and made it look darker. I've worn the jacket since, and as advertised water rolls off it a lot better.

    Easy to use garment wax.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I must admit I was surprised when I first set eyes on this bar of Greenland Wax - it was so small!

Turns out a little bit goes a long way with this stuff and I was able to wax my Vidda Pro trousers with plenty of wax to spare. The wax is easy to apply; just rub it evenly onto your garment. A quick hit with a hair dryers melts the wax into the fabric and you're done; at least until the next go-round.

Circling back to the size of the bar, the small size can make it difficult to hold while applying. If a larger size is available I would buy it simply for that reason.

    Always nice to have

Waxing the G1000 fabric is a must. It makes it look and feel super cool and I love the waterproof properties it gives my jackets. This bar is pretty small so if you are going to be doing multiple pieces or want extra, I would suggest getting a couple.

      For another purpose

I got this to re-wax a pair of Levis waxed jeans I had washed and basically ruined. I am very happy with the results, the wax returned a bit of the sheen and coolness to the jeans. Not quite the full waxy look that they had before, but it was my fault to wash them, as I was told to not do it! But I needed them to shrink a bit! I am a bit excited to test the wax ability to shed a bit of water (or coffee) in an accident...

Overall, this seems to have made the denim regain a bit of the look they lost.
