Perfect balance
I live in the US southeast and the sweater parka's from the typical name brands work just fine for the winter months here. However, I do travel west to snow ski each year and the sweater parka is just a little too light for me for the go to dinner / walk around & shop in ski town temperatures in the US western mountains. Of course for my evening activities, I could wear my on the mountain ski jacket but I'm vain and would rather be more subtle with my evening wear from what I wear on the mountain. :-) This Expedition Pack Down Hoodie is the perfect balance of what I was looking for! I did not want to spend / did not need the features and bulk of hyper warm parka. I wanted an easy plane travel jacket and something a bit more substantial than those sweater parkas I mentioned above. Did I mention vanity? I wanted a jacket to look cool. I found this sweet spot in the Expedition Pack Down Hoodie. It is more substantial than the sweater parkas I mentioned above. Both in down insulation and also the hood addition for those hopeful nights it is snowing at dinner which means I have to get up early for first tracks. Keeps me warmer on those evening nights without the expense of expedition gear. It looks cool. I went with navy but regardless of the base color, I really love the subtley of the yellow in the hood pulls. I also love the logo of Fjallraven. Not gonna lie, I didn't know the Fjallraven brand until I stumbled upon the brand in a store, started my internet research, which resulted in my purchase. This jacket will be my "this is what I wear and/or stuff into my backpack for my flight from the southeast to the moutains, will be my go to dinner/walk/shop around the ski mountain town nights, wear for my depressing flight home." And look cool the entire trip too!

Top Jacket
Superb piece from Fjallraven used recently on a trip to Tromso Norway. Jacket was worn as part of a layering system during snow storms and dog sledding and I didn’t feel the cold once with temps down to -10. Great for expedition or chilling around town. Stuffs away nicely to use as a pillow. Highly recommend ❄️

Bad quality
I like the look and fit, but the quality of the down filling on the whole backside of the hoody is terrible. There is almost no down inside. The front side and arms are ok. Very disappointed.

Fried Eggs
Really great coat. Nice long arms and torso. The quality is the best down coat I’ve owned so far. But the drawstrings for the hood look like fried eggs, and I can’t not see it every time I look at them nowadays.

Durable down that punches above its weight.
I’m not sure why anyone gets cold in this jacket. I use this as my outer layer when I ski. All I need underneath is a tshirt and and an old sweatshirt and I’m perfect in 0°-30°F weather. The temperature in Colorado has been hovering around 0°F the last few days, so on short excursions around, I stay plenty warm. Walking around campus this jacket is light and super comfortable. It allows me to not have to layer up much as it takes on the cold itself. It’s also very durable for a down jacket, I’ve clipped trees and crashed hard when skiing, had dogs jump on me, cats claw me, and no damage so far.

I love this jacket. Im 6'1" 160 lbs and I find it hard to find jackets that fit me as a slim tall guy. I got a medium and it's perfect. Good length in the torso and the arms. It's warm without being bulky. I really like the tall neck collar and a hood that's not tight. Good work!

A Tad More Fill Would Make This Rock
I'm all for the Fjallraven ethos. I have the Keb Padded Hoodie, and I love it as my lightweight insulator. Looking for a mid-weight puffer for more winter-ready activities, I ordered the Expedition Pack Down Hoodie. Yes, the quality is evident in the construction details, and the face fabric is amazingly soft yet durable. But IMO, two things could improve this awesome piece: 1) this jacket should have had higher fill weight - it is a claimed 3.9 oz, which puts it at the upper end of a lightweight insulator - but in the Fjallraven lineup, the Latt already fills that slot. I was hoping for more warmth and heft to this puffer, so a fill weight of 6.5 - 7.5 oz. would have hit the mark; and 2) fit-wise, it needs a more athletic profile - shorten the sleeves, reduce the diameter of the upper sleeves, taper the waist. Those adjustments would make the Expedition Pack Down a hands-down winner in a sea of competitors.

Great jacket
Best down jacket I ever had. Wore it with wool mid layer, light activity in -20 C and stayed warm.
