Why We Like The Bergtagen Eco-Shell Trouser

We trust the Fjallraven Bergtagen Eco-Shell Trousers when we ascend 9,000 vertical feet to the glacier-capped peak of Mount Rainier. The recycled polyester face fabric allows water to bead off the surface so the hydrophilic membrane can stay dry and breathable. The backer is also moisture-wicking to increase breathability. When we hit snow and it's time to fully suit up, the full-length zippers allow us to dress while keeping our boots on. The adjustable waist and relaxed fit work with various layers to maintain a mobile fit.

Good pants, very fragile.

Bought these at the beginning of the ski season in November and have used them maybe 10 times. They fit nicely and I really like the ease of putting them on with ski boots thanks to the built in gaiters and the side zips. The material is very thin though and I have 4 tears in it already, needing patches. Some are from other people’s ski edges nicking it, and one somehow happened on a pocket.

Great cold weather active outer wheel pants

I have had the pants for a few weeks now and enjoy them. Even the color, bright orange, which I was not so big about in the beginning is growing on me. I use them mostly for snow boarding and they work well. The low rise is great along with the waist fit. The only bummer is that they are like at least three inches too long and can not be hemmed down.. I wish they had a regular or short length and they would be perfect. I am looking forward to using them for ice climbing too. Because of these pants I have become an fjallraven guy, leaving arc teryx, mtn HW, and even OR products for these.

Great Fitting and Perfect for Skiing

These are fantastic ski pants. I am 6' tall and weigh 180 lbs and wear the 32". They fit great and are not too long. The waistband has some adjustability which works very well. Just wish they made them in BLACK!!! Please make them in BLACK!

Functional trousers for splitboard tours

Loked for technical, breathable trousers for spliboarding toura and occassional high alpine trekking; not as heavy as snowboard trousers; long enough for 193cm tall man. Found Fjallraven Bergtagen with all features after been using them for 2 winter seasons, 20+ splitboard tours: - high breathability, supported by ventilation from side zips on warmer/spring days - not restricting movements during skinning and riding down - protecting against strong wind >120km/h - with pockets on legs for e.g. mobile phone, when can't be in the jacket due to avalanche detector - inner legs as additional feature in deep powder - durable - enthusiastic with Fjalraven eco philosophy, supporting and appreciating a few other Fjallraven trousers, models for another seasons ;) If I had to choose and buy another pairs of trousers for splitboarding, it would be defenitely Fjallraven Bergtagen model.

Functional trousers for splitboard tours

I was looking for trousers mainly for splitboarding and occassional high alpine trekking. I am 193cm tall. My requirements were technical, not as heavy as snowboard, well ventilated trousers. After considering dozens of models from many brands and trying on a few, I decided to have Fjallraven Bergtagen. I've been using them for two winter seasons on 20+ splitboard tours and I appreciate the thoughts of Fjallraven's engineer and tailors working on this model. Trousers work effectively on uphills, supported by side zips in warmer days, protect against strong wind >120km/h and do not restrict movements during skinning and riding down. Pockets fit perfectly for mobile phone, when it can't be in your jacket while wearing avalanche detector. Inner legs are another thoughtful feature. Moreover, I'm enthusiastic with Fjallraven eco philosophy and support the idea (wearing few other trousers for warmer seasons ;) ) Additionally, trousers are long enough for such a tall guy like me, but I do not evaluate them in terms of sizing - it's just well fitted. If I had to choose another pair of trousers for splitboard tours, it would be defenitely Fjallraven Bergtagen trousers

Unfortunately long

I really love the build of these pants and the material as well but unfortunately they are way too long for me. I’m not exactly a short person, I’m 5’10” and these pants are about 4” too long for me. I wish that Fjällräven would consider that not all of their customers are 6’2” and offer shorter inseams. Seems like they are missing out on a huge portion of the market by only making these for taller people. Great product, just not the right fit.

Awesome but too long

I have bought these trousers as I love all products and especially the eco-shell stretch. I have the Bergtagen eco jacket as well and the Keb eco jacket. Also have several pants and they all fit perfectly. I’m 178, 61Kg and normally size 46 regular pants is great. These I had to order 44 and it’s waaaaaaaaaaaay too big. That crates a fold in the knee where water can lodge and is uncomfortable with the side sip when ski-touring as it rubs. I would highly recommend these pants but Fjallraven should deliver a regular and long. I believe this is even extra long! I’d buy it again if they made a regular length even if I already own one

Ain't No Party Like a Pants Party

A stylish ski pant that performs in the elements...what more could you ask for. At 5'8" and 170lbs the medium pant is one of the best fitting pants I've ever owned, even with insulated knickers or midweight baselayer underneath. The cut/fit, look, feel, and performance of this pant make it hands down one of my favorite pair of ski pants I've ever owned. I went with the monochromatic look, pairing the orange Bergtagen Eco-Shell pant with the Bergtagen Eco-Shell jacket. While I did not have many days in blizzard-esque conditions, days spent touring in falling snow were had and I remained warm, dry, and comfortable. Minimalistic, there are two front pockets, large enough to fit your phone, a beacon, avy notebook, snacks, etc. While dirt tends to cling and show more than other pants I've owned, I can quickly move past that, as everything else about the Bergtagen Eco-Shell kit exceeds expectations. This kit will remain in my rotation until the day it completely falls apart. Fj°llr°ven crushed it with the Bergtagen Eco-Shell pants. This was my go-to ski touring kit for 2020 and will remain as such for 2021.
