Abisko Summer Hat

Developed and tested during Lapland's Arctic summer, Fjallraven made the Abisko Summer Hat to shield the always-present sun from cooking your brain like an over-easy egg. The hat's wide brim folds onto the sides of the hat for less flapping when you're hiking, and an adjustable chinstrap secures it to your head. G-1000 Lite fabric isn't too heavy and allows excess sweat to evaporate. A UPF 40 rating ensures your dome won't burn when subjected to intense sunshine.

Well-rounded Hat

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
True to size

I bought this hat for a recent backpacking trip in the Eastern Sierras and it performed admirably. It's comfortable, breathes easy and did quite well in a bit of snow despite the G1000 fabric containing cotton. What I like most is that the brim stays stiff and does not flop around. I used to hike and camp in a ball cap, but I will now use this for all of my outdoor activities.

Blocks the Sun - Does the Job

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size

I love this hat! I have had multiple cases of skin cancer ( all removed) so I have been looking for a hat that will block the sun yet not be too big. This one does the job for sure... has held up well in salt and freshwater and I often use it when I work on my property... They did it again.

Lightweight and keeps the sun off

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Great hat. The fit was true. It breathes decently and doesn't get too hot even in the Arizona sun. The brim holds its shape but is bendable enough that its not an issue if it hits the top of your pack when you are looking up. The chin strap attaches at a place that could bother some peoples ears but wasn't an issue for me so still 5 stars.

Initially got this for a trip to the Florida Gulf Coast. Good protection and held up after taking a swim.

Keeps the Sun Off

Familiarity:

I'm kicking myself for not getting this hat earlier in the summer. I could have saved myself from more than a few instances of sunburned ears and neck. the full brim on the Fjallraven Abisko Summer Hat protects a lot better than the standard ball cap for long days under the sun. The brim has a nice shape, and looks less floppy than some other hats of this type. I ordered acoording to Fjallraven's size chart and the medium size fits my 57cm head nicely.

Only a freshwater hat

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought this hat for saltwater kayaking and on the second outing the snap buttons were already corroded. Great hat, bad accessories. I'm a big fjallraven fan but this makes a little dent on their armour.

That darn salt water is just too corrosive! Bummer.

But. . . I do have a big knife and a sweet hat (sans Crocodile teeth) thanks to Fjallraven. The Abisko Summer Hat is perfect head gear for both Walk about and City chillin. Breathable, Snaps, perfect brim, waxable - all elements of what is now my perfect hat.
