Great for hiking and backpacking in warm weather
I have several different Fjallraven pants (Vida Pro, Abisko Lite Trekking, Abisko Lite Trekking - zip off and these Abisko Midsummer - zip-off) all in LONG (there are two different inseam lengths). These are my choice for temps over 70F (21C). I like the versatility of the zip off, and the slimmer tailoring in the lower leg so the cuffs don't snag on the treads of my footwear. If the bugs are bad and I am hot, I partially unzip the lower legs for more airflow which works surprisingly well. I spray these with Permethrin to deter mosquitos and ticks and the material is colorfast - no bleeding of color, etc. I am often off-trail in thick willows, scree and talus and these are holding up well. So far, the G1000 Air Stretch is very tear resistant (no tears) and no rub spots where my hipbelt contacts the pants. The lightly reinforced areas are well placed and other than discoloration from pine sap, the pants look relatively new (not that that matters in the backcountry). When I hand-wash these outdoors while backpacking, they dry extremely quick and don't retain odor. I would not hesitate to purchase these again

Comfortable, Very VERY Nice Fit.
After 5 years of using these pants I decited to write review. Great Allround hiking pants. from Spring to fall I wear them as a single layer and in winter I wear merino leggins under the pants so for me these are all season pants. Comfy, breathable, durable. 5/5

Great design but poor quality
Overall very well designed and comfortable pants - very nice to wear, well designed pockets and some stretching material around the knees. The g1000 light however is definitely not suitable for an outdoor pant - after 2 washes (had them for 4 months so not as much worn!), the pants show wear signs on the thigh so that the material/fibres started to fray. Pants been used to wear around the house and on a few hikes.. No harsh conditions present.. Based on the wear pattern, it at the same height as the kitchen bench, so definitely not a very abrasive surface... Unfortunately no resolution other than going back to a Karl Zip Off pant made from actual durable -G1000 (lasted me before 8 years)

Great design, poor durability
I've bought Abisko Midsummer zipp off pants to replace my long lived (8 years in various climates) and loved Karl Zip pants First impression: Awesome - very functional design, great pocket and very comfortable to wear. After owning them for 4 months and just had to do a second wash (dirt doesn't stick to the material easily) , abrasion damage is visible on the thigh where my leg touches the kitchen bench or car trunk (these are most likely as they match the height etc) - so not very abrasive surfaces. I've used the pants for a few hikes in late autumn and winter but no activity would have targeted that area. Long story short: The G1000 light is a nice idea but poorly executed. I'll go back to a Karl Pro Zipp off pant (not available in North America, will purchase that in Europe) and get a pair that will last for almost a decade.

The fit is regular but the length is LONG. For someone that is at least 6?2?. Back Country?s description needs to indicate this.
