Why We Like The Freerider Pro Canvas Cycling Shoe

Ideal for everything from park laps to day-to-day trail riding, the Freerider Pro Canvas is one of our top choices in flat pedal mountain bike shoes. The secret formula is the Stealth rubber sole, which keeps our feet securely on the pedals when we're smashing through chunder and floating over ledges and drops. Compared to the standard Freerider, this Pro model gets a sleeker profile as well as the addition of an impact-resistant toe box.

Now built like an antiquated running shoe.

For years, Five Ten has been my go-to brand for MTB flat shoes. However, since Adidas acquired them, I’ve noticed a disappointing change. The shoes now come with an excessively narrow build, which sacrifices intelligent design. Despite following the provided size guide and sizing up, the pairs I received were still too small, especially in toe box width. Who actually has feet shaped like this? It’s frustrating that narrow shoes seem to prioritize “stability” at the expense of wearability and allowing the feet to work as intended. This is, or at least I thought, an antiquated design philosophy from a time before we knew better. On the bright side, the Five Ten Stealth Rubber sole remains my favorite and the initial impressions of build quality are some of the best. It’s a shame that the overall fit has suffered so badly that I'll need to look to Ride Concepts or other competitors.

Corporate America strikes again

When Five Ten was bought out by Adidas, I rushed to purchase a couple pairs of my favorite iteration of the Freerider Pro before they were drastically changed. I did this as I was worried the quality and durability would decline once they were redesigned by an athletic shoe giant. My last pair of OG Freerider Pros died this season, and I thought I would give the new model a chance. Unfortunately that was a mistake, and my concerns were validated. This shoe is severely lacking support and a hole is wearing into the sole after 6 rides. The shoe itself is light and really comfortable, but I see myself getting a couple months of enduro riding out of this pair before they are toast. Disappointed in the current quality of what was once considered to be the pinnacle of flat pedal shoes. As a result I do not foresee myself purchasing another Five Ten product in the future.

FIVE TEN FREERIDER PRO are the best MTB shoes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] FIVE TEN FREERIDER PRO are the best MTB shoes. I have tried many others. I just wish they had them in stock more. There always seems to be a shortage.

I wish they fit better.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sizing isn’t right for me. I also own a pair of Freerider Pro in a 13. They’re tight but with the thinnest of socks. And now I’m swimming in the 14’s.. Hard to find a half-size above 10 these days..

Fit is different

Unfortunately they reduced the width and height of the toe box significantly compared the regular freeriders which made the shoe to tight on my toes

Great shoe runs narrow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great shoe. The only negative is very narrow. Great traction, perfect for platform pedals.

Outstanding shoe for gravel bike with flat pedals!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great shoes. I normally wear size 10 and wear size 11 in Adidas and Five Tens. I also have a wide foot and these are just fitting. I ride these on my gravel bike with Crank Bros Stamps and they are almost like being clipped in. They look awesome too. The canvas shoes are pretty thick and heavy duty. I have an old foot injury and since then always like to have a sense of protection over my foot and these are perfect.
