    Freerider Elements Cycling Shoe

Five Ten’s notoriously sticky Stealth 1 rubber is just one component that makes the Freeride Element a top choice for flat-pedal riders. The BMX-inspired synthetic leather upper, supportive heel cup, and cushy impact protection add to its popularity in lift lines and jump parks. This isn't a glorified skate shoe, it's intended for the abrasion and harsh conditions the gravity crowd demands.

The burly, polyurethane-coated leather upper is double-stitched for durability and placed where pedals, cranks, and trail-side obstacles would send other shoes into early retirement. This construction also gives the Freeride structure, with mesh filling voids to prevent overheating in the summer. The midsoles are semi-stiff to support the foot and prevent hot spots without dulling feedback from your bike. Underneath the midsoles are Five Ten's legendary high-friction Stealth S1 rubber compound and a grippy tread pattern. Stealth S1 isn’t just there for the grip, it also adds excellent cushioning and shock absorption.

    • BMX-inspired mountain bike shoes for flat-pedal greatness
    • Robust upper provides all-day comfort and resilient protection
    • Semi-stiff midsoles adds support and fight hot spots
    • Stealth S1 rubber outsole for unbeatable grip on varying surfaces
    • EVA midsole has medium flex for reliable foot control

    Love these shoes!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've worn these shoes for over 10 rides now and absolutely love them! Over the past year I've been riding clipless for the first time in my life and although they're good for climbing I just found it too hard for me to unclick if I was about to crash. Once I got these five ten shoes I will never go back they grip my Crank Brothers pedals like there glued on. You literally can't slip off sideways have to lift straight up

Went from clipless to flats due to some knee aggravations, Read the reviews and decided to try them. I was shocked at the grip these shoes have on my Deity flat pedals! Love them! I wear a 9.5 or 10.0 and a size ten was just a little roomy but works nicely.

    Great versatile riding shoe

Used these all spring/summer 2018. I'm new to Five Ten and was very pleased with the combination of grippy soles, stiff arches, and comfortable interior. Coming from using skate and running shoes, these were fantastic! The reinforced toes and heels have also saved my feet a few times! I wish they had a little more arch support, but my feet tend to be more sensitive to this than the average person.

    Soooo nice

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I did a back to back test with these bad boys, actual clipless shoes, and an old pair of vans. I honestly forgot at one point that these weren't clipped in and tried to pull up on the pedal in a sprint; they are that sticky. They are much stiffer and offer more support than a traditional skate shoe, and the grip on the pedals is soo confidence inspiring and nice its night and day. Highly Highly recommend. I'm making the switch from clipless after (among other things) falling down the spine on the Wasatch Crest Trail due to not getting a foot out. No need to add insult to injury by being attached to your bike and having it attack you on your way down as well If you need further inspiration to switch to flats, check out the relatively common injury on google wherein which peoples handlebars rupture their femoral artery after their bike attacks them from being clipped in.

    Grippy Goodness

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The Five Ten brand is the only one I've worn since I started mountain biking. The Freerider fits the best and most comfortable for my feet.
I have worn running shoes biking but these shoes are the best. As other reviewers have said, "its like having super glue on your shoes". My last pair lasted a couple of years. I'm sure these will too.

    So Far So Good...

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've worn these two times and both times I have had a super grip on my flat pedals.. They are super stable and stay put once you place your foot and put weight on them. I can't speak to durability, as I haven't had them long enough to see that, but I lost the fit and feel of the shoes.

WOW. I have always just run regular skate shoes with my flats. Now that I made the switch I'm never going back. The rubber compound on these shoes makes them stick to your peddles like their glued down, at times it's difficult to reposition. Very comfortable and warm, I'm guessing this is because there aren't any vent holes, which makes um water resistant. The only thing I don't like is that they seem to be a little big, this could be because of I'm so skinny, nothing thick socks can't fix.

These shoes are very comfortable and great for everyday use. Has grippy bottom that works great for downhill.

    The best freeride shoe

I think these are the best free ride shoe that 5.10 makes. They lock onto your flats and have so much grip sometimes it's hard to reposition your foot if you put it on crooked. The shoes are easy to clean, comfortable and they look like normal shoes so you can wear them anywhere. I also think they breath really well. My only complaint is the laces. They get really dusty and are very hard to get the knots untied. but thats cuz i'm lazy and always slip my shoes off and on. Other than that I think these are the best shoes 5.10 makes.

As a Gearhead when I talk with customers about Five Ten shoes, it is a safe bet they are using them to crush it out on the mountain bike trails. Not in Ryan's case. When I asked him what kind of bike he would be using with the shoes he said, "They're not for mountain biking. I'm using them for skydiving and base jumping." This dude is awesome! He and his skydiving team use Five-Ten shoes exclusively. They love the grip, stiffness, and their long lasting durability. I asked him to let me know how the new shoes worked out or if he could take a picture so I could see them in action. He did one better and sent me this awesome video. Thanks again Ryan. I have had these for about a year now and boy it is hard to slip off the pedals with these. I got them cause I wanted to see if they could beat out my Vans for grip and it is a whole different world. They have really stepped up my game I will buy another pair when these run out of life, they have a whole summer of riding already and they work perfect still so I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I love these shoes for riding and casual use. The soles are super sticky but not too stiff. Fairly light weight and many colors to choose from.

Five ten are the kings of dh mtb shoes! I put them tk a test run with my old pedals that have little life on them. These shoes do not need much and they will keep your mind off your feet and more what ahead. It's always a huge confidence boost when you know your feet will always be on the pedals! Extremely pleased

The title says it all, folks. These puppies stick to the pins like glue and will keep you on your flats through damn near anything. I've taken these on some pretty intense rides and the durability and adaptable construction make this a great shoe for hot days or those moist ones. Let your hush puppies sit in comfort on long climbs and tough drops through the gardens with these soles. They have just the right about of room in the front to keep you from jamming, while also keeping control at the forefront. A must have shoe.

Bought a 10.5, and it runs just a tad big.

I've been crushing a pair of the normal Freerider model since last summer and will praise them to the ends of the earth. Daily wear, through every condition imaginable. Not even close to breaking down yet...

Just got these (Elements) this week and they are WORTH every penny of the extra few bucks. Will take some breaking in as the material is stiffer than the Freerider (because it's waterproof), but yesterday I wore them through a 10 mile blizzard here in Denver, then back in heavy slush.

My bike froze twice and had to be carried much of the way, but these shoes stayed totally solid. As long as water/snow doesn't go down your sock from above (haha), the shoes themselves are bulletproof.

BTW, I use these for both road and MTB riding. My road bike has high-end flats and the combo with these shoes is 1000% better than uncomfortable clip-ins...

Do run a bit large, so you may need a 1/2 smaller depending upon the fit you like. If you like snug, go down. If you like a little room for comfort, stick to your normal size :) Once they break in, they're like slippers in either case!

Have been on a few rides since purchasing these Five Ten Freerider's and could not be happier. They have performed as advertised and never slipped off the peg pedals, no matter what the riding conditions were.

Great flat-pedal shoe, I don't like clips much and have a friend who loves clips, after I got a pair of these I am no longer riding behind him. Already had about five, 30 to 50 mile MTB trail runs and no slip offs! Pedal to the metal! Or in this case shoe sticks to the pedal! Rock On and Ride Away!
