    Transcend the trail.

Five Ten's men's Freerider Canvas Shoes may not be the first pair of kicks to fit in on the trail, at the park, or at the bar, but they are the first to marry the Freerider body and sole to the always-appropriate look of canvas. By cloaking a pedal-ready build with a canvas upper, the Freerider Canvas Shoes effectively transcend the trail.

Five Ten officially classifies the Freerider Canvas as "lifestyle inspired." Given the shoes' non-marking, grippy Phantom soles and Stealth Dotty tread, this opaque description must translate to shoes that keep your feet riveted to pedals, skate decks, or barstool rails while leaving no trace on hardwood or stained concrete.

    • Flat pedal mountain bike shoes stylish enough for casual wear
    • Durable canvas uppers withstand years of abuse on and off the trail
    • Stealth rubber offers tacky grip but won’t mark up your floors
    • Dotted tread pattern stays glued to the pedals over rough terrain
    • One-piece molded cupsole offers support for hard impacts

    Best Flat Pedal Interface

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 175lbs

Pair these shoes with a Deity pedal and you may as well be clipped in. Super sticky sole, very comfortable, I got 2 years out of them before I started to feel the spikes in my pedals. The canvas material will retain dust and give them a dirty look but a quick brush will clean them back up to like new. Not crazy about how they retain dust but it's a small trade off for the durability of the canvas material. I'm on my second pair and found these run true to size.

    Great shoes!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I ordered these as a surprise for my husband. They are true to size. He loved the colors and fits perfect.

    Bomber

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My friends laugh that I ride in these- but they still don't seem to understand how different that is than normal sneakers. For CX season I race clipped, but the stick on these guys feels sooo solid. If you can trust Five Ten rubber for climbing shoes, you can trust them to stick to your flats.

Switched to these because I originally ordered the wrong size in the og Freerider (mens 6). I wear a women's 8 pretty standard, and these guys in a 6.5 are exactly what I needed. The canvas model looks a lot nicer off the bike I think.

    Super Grip

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are the best flat shoes I've ever had! I love the style and comfort, but their riding performance is where they really shine. The pedal platform area, and sidewall is reinforced and very supportive. You'll never slip a pedal again with the Stealth Phantom rubber sole because your pedal's screws will sink into the sole. I found they run true to size. So far I'm really loving them and I can't wait to get back on my bike!

    Clipless no-footers.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These shoes are so sweet. The stealth rubber feels like you're really locked into the pedals. While you're flying down sweet flow or sliding through tight tech, you wont have to worry one bit about your feet sliding around. But, once you get up in the air and you want to throw a foot off, feel free! Love them so far.

    Awesome mountain bike shoes

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm a big fan of this pair of Five Ten Freerider shoes! Solid platform and great grip on the pedals. Sizing runs right on and they're a pretty standard width. I will definitely be getting another pair!

    great grip

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Casual enough to ride to the bar after a rip in the woods, comfortable enough to be in all day. if you dont already know, five ten has the best rubber for flat shoe flat pedal combo. pretty durable shoe as well.

    Great Grip!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The rubber on these shoes have served me very well, I dont think there is a stickier option without clipping in. The sole is also very stiff which makes for a much more stable shoe than non biking specific shoes.

Good.. but not as good as I kept hearing

Got these after riding without true MTB shoes for about a year. Had heard nothing but killer reviews but I cant honestly say theyre a huge improvement from the lower cut Patagonia trail running/hiking shoes I had been using. Those hikers had a pretty firm Vibram sole with decently deep treads which seemed to work fairly well. Dont get me wrong, these are good, but not nearly as much of a game changer as I had hoped.

Awesome grip with a great look

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

the Stealth Phantom rubber sticks to pedals incredibly well and the shoe itself is a great, true to size, fit with great looks as well. Highly recommended.

      Great pair of shoes!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I initially bought a size 10, had to send them back for a 10.5. I wear a size 10 in Vans as a reference, and have pretty wide feet. I'd recommend wearing them around for a few days to break them in, they're really comfortable. The grip on Raceface chester pedals is insane, it's like you're clipped in.

      Sticks like Glue!

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these for my boyfriend after so many fellow bike enthusiasts recommended them as a high performance but affordable mountain bike shoe.

The Five Ten Freerider Canvas shoe feel great right out of the box. At first glance you can tell they are well made with high quality rubber and canvas, and putting them on confirmed that. The sole is quite stiff which is good for pedaling, but not stiff enough to make them uncomfortable to walk in. The rubber on the sole is super sticky and your feet never come off the pedals.

They haven't gone on any dirt trails yet but I'm sure they will stand up to the test.
My boyfriend said the only reason he didn't give these five stars is because of the look -- I personally think they're pretty good looking but he doesn't think mountain bike shoes look that cool.

Otherwise, awesome shoe at a great price!

Sizing: these fit true to size/to your street shoe size. He wears a US Men's size 10 and he purchased these in a US Men's size 10, they fit like a glove.

      Grippy

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My boyfriends review on these: "These shoes make me feel like i'm clipped back into my flat pedals they're so grippy. It's an incredible feeling. My friends always hyped these MTB shoes up, and they lived up to every expectation. They're comfortable to ride in, rigid enough to pedal all day in without getting foot fatigue like with softer soled shoes. Did I mention they grip pedals? Features I'd normally bounce off the pedals on, continue to stick some how. They're flat bottoms with little grip when not on pedals, so hike-a-bike up a steep, wet, muddy hill might be difficult but that's not the point. I would definitely recommend these to a friend."

      Tough

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These shoes are fantastic for any of your dirt biking needs. They are super durable, comfortable and look great. The flat sole is great for staying locked in on my pedals while still providing great protection. I seel these and will continue to use them as long as FiveTen makes them.

      So far so freaking good

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

WAs using approach shoes the first few times cause I hadn't looked into a nice pair of Mountain Biking shoes and finally got these. They are most definitely sticky. You're not going to be stuck to the pedal but you're going to feel nice and secure. Helped me get more comfortable with some jumps as well because me feet weren't coming off the pedals. Durable and really comfy too. Only thing I noticed was my toes were getting a bit numb, most likely cause it was chilly out and i was pedaling. They aren't a super warm shoe so maybe wear warm socks near the shoulder seasons.

Five Ten makes the best shoes out there when it comes to riding flat pedals. Shoe is super comfortable and has amazing grip. Five Ten utilizes stealth rubber which is extra grippy and offers the most surface area. I'd definitely encourage anyone riding platforms to get these. I might add I've been riding on them for a year now and they are still in great shape. Very durable.

Great shoes! They have tons of grip with the stamp pedals I have. They are not super stiff so if you like stiff shoes look elsewhere but great padding and support for the down and up. The toebox is a bit narrow so my right pinkie toe gets a little aggravated but nothing terrible!
