Access Knit Shoe

Most climbers already know the rock feels best in colder temperatures, but that won't stop you from enjoying a warm, sunny day at the crag. Besides, the Five Ten Men's Access Knit Shoe feels best when the approach is warmer than usual. Its knit upper amplifies breathable ventilation, and the rubberized exoskeleton offers that support climbers look for in approach shoes. The lightweight EVA midsole also has some rubber in it to increase shock absorption and overall durability required for rocky, technical terrain. The Stealth PH sole uses a similar rubber compound as Five Ten's climbing shoes, and you can rely on its traction when you come across slabby sections on the approach.
  • Approach shoe feels best in warmer weather
  • Knit, breathable upper encased in supportive, rubber exoskeleton
  • Injected-molded midsole increases shock absorption and durability
  • Stealth PH rubber sole with climbing zone for added friction

One of the best approach shoes ever

Super light and breathable, it's a great transition for the trail to a scramble when getting to the crag. Amazing for southwest climbers because of how breathable it is, you don't feel like you're suffocating when wearing the shoes.

I normally wear a size 9.5 - 10.0 in street shoes. I went with a 10.0 and the fit is great. In my experience with approach shoes there has always been some give and take, but the 5.10 Access Knit seems to tick all the boxes: Lightweight, comfortable (even for someone with a foot on the slightly wider side), grippy, and I can slip them on and off at the crag without tying/un-tying the laces. I can't speak to their durability yet but they seem like they're going to last. I knocked off one star because the knit material invites in all the sand at Red Rock (I suppose that is the one compromise with this shoe) For comparison, I have owned the 5.10 Guide Tennie (very durable, fit and comfort was decent, but way too heavy), Evolv Cruzer Classic (very lightweight but too narrow, terrible build quality) and Evolv Cruzer Slip-On (very lightweight, very comfortable for a wider foot, still terrible build quality).

These are amazing. Feel light like a running shoe, but have the sticky stealth rubber that I love. Perfect fit, and they look good when you aren’t in the mountains too.
