Why We Like The Fischer Spider 62 Crown Xtralite Ski
Built to take you up powerlines and over golf courses, the Spider 62 Crown Xtralite Ski can also pull double duty at the Nordic center. We like how these skis can run in a classic track but still boast full-length steel edges that thrive in more unpredictable conditions.

I'm very satified with the skis.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- 189cm for 5'10" ht. & ave. wt.
First off, I'm a cruiser, not a racer. I wanted a ski that would be as wide as possible yet still fit well enough in the 60mm-wide classic tracks that are machine set on the hilly, groomed Nordic trails in our community. I also wanted full-length steel edges for when I step out of the classic track onto the skate skiing lane and want decent ski control on the steeper descents when the surface is hard or even icy. I also wanted skis that could be used off the groomed Nordic trails. The Spider 62 skis satisfy these needs well. For more serious skiing off of the groomed Nordic trails, I use a wider cross-country ski. And for even more serious off piste back country skiing, I use alpine touring ski gear. 'Can't have too many skis in one's quiver.

I highly recommend these skis for groomed and off-groomed snow. I bought them because the 62mm width is compatible with our community's 60mm-wide machine-set classic tracks (as measured at the bottom of the track). The steel edges allow maximum ski control when stepping out of the set tracks to descend a steep slope in the skate-ski lane. The skis have at least as strong, maybe stronger, grip going uphill as my other brands of skis with textured mid-sections. For deeper snow, I use wider skis than these. I am 5'10" and 170 lbs. Add the weight of clothing and boots, and sometimes a day pack, and the 189cm length is just right. These skis are a welcome additon to my quiver.
