- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I've got a watch fetish. To me, there's nothing better than a fine wristwatch. Unfortunately, my budget does not allow for purchases of even the simplest Rolex or Omega, much less a Patek Philippe or (better yet) a Philippe DuFour Simplicity.
So I have to settle for "lesser" names.
The thing is, Filson is not a lesser name. The watches are assembled by Shinola in Detroit, using American-built movements from Swiss parts, and sourcing parts from as many domestic sources as possible.
It looks good, it keeps time well, it's very simple an understated ... and I had to have one from the first time I laid eyes on it. Once acquired, it's been my daily wear watch, relegating my Swiss Army and other watches to the top of my dresser.
