Filson hit the bullseye with this one.
With a legacy of producing durable goods for craftsmen, loggers, and sportsmen, Filson's reputation has held strong with these hard-to-please groups since 1897. Filson didn't maintain its hard-earned reputation by outsourcing work, but by making all of its clothing where it always has—right here in America. The Men's Shooting Jacket hails from this long legacy and carries with it the same solid construction, rugged fabrics, and smart design, which make it a great choice whether you're out for a hike, or taking your pointer for a walk through the fields in pursuit of a few ring-necked pheasants.
The Shooting Jacket is made with a oil finish shelter cloth that is highly water resistant and durable enough to withstand some serious abuse in the field. Inside the jacket is a slightly softer dry finish cloth fabric that may be more comfortable, but is still plenty durable. Although, the jacket may have a more tailored fit, the action back is tailored to offer excellent mobility for when you need to shoulder a gun to quickly fire one off at a bird. The two handwarmer pockets are fleece-lined for added warmth and are placed high on the jacket, so you can rest your break-action shotgun across your forearm, without having to take your hands out of the pockets. The two bellowed pockets are slotted to carry a few extra shotgun shells, and the rear button-closure pocket is lined with a blood proof lining to carry any birds you might harvest throughout the day. Since the metal butt on your old break-action doesn't offer a whole of recoil protection, the Shooter is equipped with shooting patches so you can throw a recoil pad in their for some extra protection.
