From the office to the outdoors.

The Filson Mackinaw Field Leather Watch is a master class in fine craftsmanship and rugged elegance. Handcrafted in Shinola's state-of-the-art Detroit factory, the Mackinaw is sophisticated enough for the classiest settings, yet tough enough to handle the demands of the field. The stainless steel case is brass PVD-plated for a classic look, and an anti-fingerprint coating keeps it clean. The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal case has an anti-reflective coating so you can still read the time when the sun is high overhead. Saddle-grade bridle leather is tough as nails, yet smooth as a baby's bottom. Swiss Super LumiNova marking makes it easy to read the time in low light. Whether you're duck hunting or leading board meetings, the Mackinaw is at home on your wrist.

    Beautiful Timepiece

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Every detail on this watch has been thought out. From the bridal leather that they use in the band, to the engraving on the back of the watch. Everything is top notch. The watch itself is made by Shinola in Detroit, Michigan so, if you want a beautiful timepiece made in the USA, this is for you!

    Watch Yourself

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Since I bought this watch back in early January I've worn it 99% of the time. From a casual day in the office to a night out on Main St. in Park City I wear this timepiece all the time. The guys over at Filson (Tommy and Colin - our reps) are some of the coolest dudes you'll meet. Super knowledgeable and represent the brand well. We also had a challenge at Outdoor Retailer to see who could keep their hand in a Yeti 65 longer... Long story short, Tommy won.

Now back to the point. I have a few other watched (Nixon and a Tag Heuer I got for college graduation). I tend to wear this one most of the time and has climbed to the top on my watch rankings. Shinolah movement, a quality USA made leather band and a perfect size face.

This watch is so classy some may think you're Ron Burgandy when you bust out this watch. When you pass away you better pick your favorite grandson wisely... because whoever gets it will be the envy of the whole family.

    Assembled in America

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I've got a watch fetish. To me, there's nothing better than a fine wristwatch. Unfortunately, my budget does not allow for purchases of even the simplest Rolex or Omega, much less a Patek Philippe or (better yet) a Philippe DuFour Simplicity.

So I have to settle for "lesser" names.

The thing is, Filson is not a lesser name. The watches are assembled by Shinola in Detroit, using American-built movements from Swiss parts, and sourcing parts from as many domestic sources as possible.

It looks good, it keeps time well, it's very simple an understated ... and I had to have one from the first time I laid eyes on it. That first watch was the Filson Dutch Harbor, which quickly became my daily wear watch, relegating my Swiss Army and other watches to the top of my dresser.

More recently, I saw the Mackinaw Field, and yup ... bought it too, and now I'm rotating the watches on a daily basis.

    Timeless timepiece

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Filson and Shinola are both reputable brands with a focus on quality, craftsmanship and longevity. I'm a watch guy and this one has climbed the ranks to be my daily time piece. It beat out the Suunto Core, Fitbit Surge, Triwa Falken and a few others to reign supreme on my wrist. The leather band has worn in nicely and has that character that you can only find in real leather. it loosened up slightly after a few weeks of wear and has become SUPER comfortable Overall, I couldn't be happier and look forward to rocking this time piece for years to come.

    Love it

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I've got a small wrist, but this still fits well without being oversize. Quality watch, with great attention to detail and character. Big fan of Shinola Detroit made story and the collaboration with Wilson is one I couldn't pass up. The band was a little lighter color than the picture represents. I purchased the blue version and ended up purchasing a blue rubber strap from Shinola so I could wear it with just about any color. Pricey, but built to last and hope to hand it down to one of my kiddos some day.
